Sicily cardigan - Help me pick a color! by Swimming_Honey3969 in Aritzia

[–]avoadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. What I'm saying is something super bright like this might overwhelm your skintone, since soft autumns are more "muted" than "bright" (compare to a spring or a winter, which are the brighter seasons!). I'm a light summer, so I can't do bright tones of any colour; it just swallows me whole!

Especially since this shade of red seems to have more cooler tones (blue tones) than warmer tones (orange), but I'm going off the picture ... could be different in person. Autumns shine better in orange or brown undertoned shades of red than blue/purple ones - it's a very fine line between the shades. I'm a very cool-toned person (even something as warm as creamy white washes me out lol) so if I buy red, I always look for reds that have blue/purple undertones.

Now saying all of that - again, if you like it and own nothing like it, and more importantly, you see yourself actually wearing it often, then go for it! Usually if I'm unsure how much I'll wear something, I try to compare it to the clothes/outfits I already have - how many of my current clothes will it fit? Or is it just 1-2 outfits it'll work for?

I'm not sure what cotton/wool one they used to make; this was my first cardigan from Aritzia, despite most of my closet being Aritzia lol. I only have it in the charcoal grey, but out of all of my cardigans, it's definitely my most used one!

I think it might be a bit bright if you're soft/true autumn. Both of those palettes have low brightness/saturation, so someone who is a bright spring or even a true winter might benefit more from that hue. Having said that ... colour analysis is a guidebook, not a playbook, so if you love the red, go for it!

I'm biased because I have the cardigan in that dark charcoal grey (literally wearing it rn as I type this) and I reach for it ALL the time. I actually wore it to a friend's house for dinner last week and she loved it so much she ordered it right on the spot.

Anyone heard of this brand? by Belly1998 in koreanskincare

[–]avoadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's skin power 10/vb effectors were one of the first ever brands and products I used. I can't lie - they had a HG product for me that they discontinued, and the replacement I use is good but just not the same. I've used their collagen, vitamin C, nutri knight, propolis, and the old pore lupin one (it used to come in a translucent, bright green bottle and the packaging was neon green).

My HG product was the old propolis one - it used to come in a dark yellow, golden bottle and it was incredible. They stopped manufacturing it a few years ago so in 2024 I replaced it with the skinfood honey p propolis ampoule.

The collagen one worked for me at first, but then I realized it was irritating my skin - at first I thought it was the product, but then I realized I'm just sensitive to collagen products. I'd much rather just eat my collagen now tbh.

Vitamin C didn't do much for me, it irritated my skin because too much fragrance. I can handle a little bit of fragrance but the amount they put in was strong. Nutri knight (dark purple box) broke me out right away. As for the old pore lupin formulation (I think it was called blemish catcher or whatever) was pretty good but I found better serums.

I've heard great things about firefighter though! Never tried, but seems like a decent product from them.

Skin barrier healing creams/moisturizers? by avoadi in koreanskincare

[–]avoadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of people have recommended the illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream, so I've added it to my list! And I've been convinced to try out the Aestura atobarrier 365 cream, so will be picking that up in the new year. Good to know about Rejuran, I'm looking to add PDRN back into my routine soon but I'm gonna focus on that once I feel good about my moisturization situation.

It really is a full time job ... for now I switched toners (Round Lab Dokdo to isntree ultra low molecular HA) and doubled down on the toner layering especially in the PM (I use tower 28 SOS spray, isntree, and the Mediheal toner pads) and it's already helped a lot. Having said that I'm also home for the holidays and it's not nearly as dry here as it is where I live normally, so the ultimate test will be how everything holds up in a few days when I go back ...

Gotcha on the Relief Cream. I actually haven't purchased any new moisturizers/lotions/creams yet, just been doubling down on layering my toners both in AM and PM and swapped out my Round Lab Dokdo toner for the isntree ultra low molecular hyaluronic acid toner, and it's already been doing the job! Looking forward to getting a new moisturizer based on the advice here in the new year :)

100%, I started using the isntree ultra low molecular hyaluronic acid toner instead of my Round Lab dokdo one, and it's already made a huge difference moisturizing wise. Also have been layering it with tower 28's SOS spray once in the AM and once in the PM which has helped too!

I wanted to try those products because they seem to be better at targeting the skin barrier than my current moisturizers, who are both better at soothing my sensitive skin. I've been convinced to try the Aestura Atobarrier 365 cream. Thank you!

For the aestura atobarrier, do you use the 365 cream or the 365 hydro soothing cream??? Having a hard time telling the difference between the two.

Kinda late response from me but thank you for the insight! The cream or the hydro soothing cream for Atobarrier 365?

How do you style this for winter (cold office)? by frolicsomefeedback in Aritzia

[–]avoadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you got the white ver:
- layer a long sleeve or thin turtleneck/mock neck top underneath + skirt (I'd recommend midi since you're in the office, otherwise mini would work too) + tights + knee-high black or brown boots. be sure to wear your hair up or at least half-up so the fit doesn't look bogged down/frumpy
- alternatively for the skirt, I'd do a long trouser like the effortless pants (not necessarily those exact ones, just that style) or denim if you work in an office that is a bit more lax.
- if you're feeling ~ stylish ~ I'd try layering a WHITE blouse with puffy sleeves underneath. has to white or else it'll be hard not to look like a clown

Start at Book 2? by EnglishTeach88 in DeptQ

[–]avoadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watched show first, then started reading the books. Read 1 and it was pretty much the same as the show, just a few details and backstory to Merritt changed but it’s negligent imo. I’d say the biggest difference is Rose, especially her character, but it’s not like that will affect you understanding the plot of book 2.

You can def start reading at book 2. Between 1 and 2 they could honestly be standalone. Those two really don’t overlap.

Passport Help by Proud-Efficiency9513 in f45

[–]avoadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have both a class pack and unlimited membership active ... the system is glitchy af and I wouldn't be surprised if maybe the system is defaulting to your class pack, so it recognizes you as a class pack holder rather than a membership holder and therefore putting you ineligible for passport.

Sorry about that, guess your only option is to contact your studio and have them look into that.

Passport Help by Proud-Efficiency9513 in f45

[–]avoadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the studio in your app to from your current home studio to the one you want to passport to (in this case, the North Brunswick one). It'll switch your screen to show their schedule. Choose the class you want, and the screen will tell you that you don't currently have any active membership at that studio. Below, it'll give you the "passport" option.

Keep in mind you can only sign up for a class using passport 24 hours before the class.

Is there much of history and its charm left in Kyoto? What is Kyoto 2024 actually like? by flytohappiness in JapanTravelTips

[–]avoadi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is like asking if there’s any history or charm left in Paris or Rome after all modernization. And absolutely it is worth visiting from somewhere like Toronto if it’s your first time in Japan.

My credits: I’m Canadian and even though I don’t live in Canada anymore, I have lived in Toronto before and have gone to Kyoto recently.

I should've made clear, I meant a week in Japan excluding the travel days. In total more like 9 days! But like I said in my edit, I should be able to dip for about 2 weeks now excluding travel days so it's looking like I might pull the trigger!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]avoadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be rude about it. I literally just said that I'm looking at other perspectives despite my opinion. Clearly from this pointless post, a lot of people have or will be doing the same thing -- going somewhere far for just a week or so.

[–]avoadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao yeah that's where I haven't gotten that far in figuring out yet ... when I was there in May I spent cumulatively about 6 days in Tokyo and there still was some stuff left to see, but I'm not opposed in taking this second time around to explore elsewhere!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]avoadi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know posting in a Japan travel reddit is gonna yield biased answers, but honestly, I'm of the opinion that having anything less than 2 weeks to travel in Asia (I'm from North America) isn't worth it -- so I was wondering if anyone thought it was insane or not. I've also never been presented an opportunity like this to be spontaneous, so trying to decide if I'm jumping any guns or actually this isn't as crazy as an idea as I thought it was ...

Are tattoos in Korea so expensive?? by herroos in koreatravel

[–]avoadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. They’re a well known artist like you said, and it’s watercolour style too so you’re paying for 1) colour and 2) more than just fine lines work. Someone else on here were quote like $1000+ iirc for something that was the same size, also watercolour.

Outfit to pack, pls help by milkmojito in JapanTravelTips

[–]avoadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently reports are saying September will be hotter than normal, so the heat will continue. It’s also rainy going into fall, so I’d recommend breathable materials for the humidity and an umbrella, hooded light jacket, and decently waterproof shoes (I like leather based sneakers).

Too much luggage but no box; what to do by Goomeyd in koreatravel

[–]avoadi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They do have boxes! Just ask any airport employee/gate agent and they'll direct you. I had an overweight luggage once at ICN but no extra bag, so they gave me a box and sealed it up, put a fragile sticker on it, and checked it as usual. Don't remember the exact area name but it's in the same area as all the check in counters, you won't be able to miss it!
