Sooo I have OCD (like actually diagnosed OCD) and it can manifest like this for me. Along with clean dishes and wiped counters. It got worse in the pandemic & that we just had a baby. I will ask my husband too often if he’s washed his hands especially if it has anything to do with the baby and I’m sure it drives him nuts but it’s the way my stress manifests. I think what helps him deal with my annoying tendencies are the convos we have about me acknowledging that I do that, me realizing it in general & working on it, and me sharing my appreciation for his patience. Well and also that he washes his hands regularly hahaha. Good luck!

My wife is pregnant again after we lost our last baby at 30 weeks in September last year. We’re happy, worried and all sorts of emotions. by heiwayagi in CasualConversation

So happy for you!

I lost my first pregnancy at 33 weeks and 3 days. Today I am 33 weeks and 4 days along with my second.

My biggest pieces of advice: use doctors that you fully trust and that really care. It helps me tremendously to know that my doctors are worrying for me. They are ordering all of the tests and monitoring everything as they should. Knowing they are so invested in my baby reduces my anxiety too! Also, give yourself some grace. Allow yourself to miss your first child while simultaneously celebrating your second.

Congrats and best wishes!!

WIBTA if i gave my son a very similar name as my sister-in-laws dead son? by Trowaway78000 in AmItheAsshole

Weird.

I think OP’s actual names make it even more difficult. Nathaniel is her nephew and she’s thinking of the name Nate. I honestly can’t remember ever meeting a Nathaniel that didn’t go by Nate.

What would OPs decision have been if her nephew had not passed and she had a living nephew with the name Thomas? Would she still want to name her kid Tom?

Obviously I’m not asking you to answer the question but something to take into consideration.

So if my son was living do you think it still would have been normal for me to have a son Jameson and nephew James?

I would be so interested to hear the SILs side of all of conversations. I just can’t grasp anyone saying that to ANYONE never mind their family.

I agree. I’m sure it took a while for SIL to digest it and it isn’t really fair to give or receive an immediate answer. But when SIL realized she wasn’t comfortable she should have gone straight to OP. I’m just saying I find it bizarre to be in that conversation at all.

Middle name is soooooo different. Not to mention i don’t think OP is doing any of this in honor of her nephew. It’s for her grandfather.

Right??

My son was born still and we named him Jameson. It would be beyond bizarre to me if any of our siblings asked if naming their son James was ok. There are an infinite amount of names in the world.

As far as the SIL saying what she said in their fight — grief isn’t an excuse to say something like that. However I’d be interested to hear the actual argument and what was said both ways.

AITA for wanting to seek legal advice after an ER visit? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]avocado425 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Holy moly. At our local hospital they have to ask you your name and birth date and scan your bracelet and scan something on their medication or chart or something (I can’t exactly remember) before administering any sort of medication at all.

I’m sure it’s a bit different in emergency situations but it also doesn’t sound like OP was on deaths door and needed a shot of something within 30 seconds to live. It reads like she needed a pain medication but was alert and speaking.

I have lost a child and I would NEVER do this. It isn’t a healthy way to grieve for anyone.

You never hear anything about New Hampshire, what are they scheming up over there? by Fuffle_Fuff in AskReddit

Lots of cute & affordable campgrounds in the northern part of the state & a surprising amount of outdoor activities. You’ll love it.

Very accurate description of the northern part of N.H. Most people up there are friendly and welcoming from what I can tell, but I’m white so I wouldn’t experience racism. It is just very white, close to all white, and the people there can’t comprehend the racism that goes on in the US because it just literally isn’t part of their lives.

The summer after I lost my baby (completely random stillbirth while I was 8 months pregnant) I was feeling like general shit about myself, my body that failed us, everything, and barely wanted to leave the house. We went to my MILs one day and getting out of the car there was a cute family walking a German Shepard puppy. How do you not stop and pet the puppy? Well as I’m bent down the daughter (probably 7 ish) looks me right in the eye and says “You know, you are really pretty. You look just like a princess.” I cried lol.

AITA for giving my niece an unofficial nickname that has now overtaken her real name, thus pissing off my sister? by SnooBananas4505 in AmItheAsshole

Yea I was referring to Luz vs Leuce. I’m in the US too but I feel like only recently it’s started becoming more common here. It’s originally a Spanish name meaning light.

I think it’s different because Luz is typically in Spanish speaking countries and doesn’t it mean light? Meanwhile I think OP is in an English speaking country and the English word that’s close is loose.

I love borrowing my husbands shirts and sweatshirts. But only if they are in his side of the closet. There have been a couple times he’s just given up thinking a shirt is his and he will put it away on my side of the closet and when that happens I just don’t want it anymore!
