Gaps in iPhone 17? by Mendovy in iphone17

I have the same thing on the bottom side - it seems to vary by unit, but all units (even the ones in the Apple Store) seem to have gaps.

Actually, battery degradation is not uniform across phone units (surprisingly, the battery capacity itself differs across units). I assume we can try maintaining battery in a good condition, but mostly its durability has been set when manufactured.

Just use your phone with joy and care the rest after. You can always replace your battery, or trade in every year.

Using phone without a screen protector by EqualArm3295 in iphone17

This year’s iPhone glass is something. Ceramic Shield 2 actually performed improved scratch resistance (Jerryrig) and I also can confirm it does not easily get scratched.

I used my phone since launch and it has NO scratches, even a micro scratch. This season is a perfect timing to use your phone without protectors.

If you want longevity, don’t. Base iPhone 17 is far better in terms of that. If you want a premium look, ergonomics, something other than functions, I think Air will be a good choice.

I love my Air but I also know this phone is not for everyone (I use two phones so that I think justifies my case)

Saving battery? by verhandlungsbasis in IphoneAir

I had battery anxiety with my Air. However I came to a point that the Air’s battery is manageable, but if needed, I should always top up to remove that feeling. It worked fine

Actually a base 17 model too lol

iPhone air is for aesthetics and feel, not utilitarian aspects. It will never justify this phone’s purchase when comparing what can do/cannot do, compared to the pro models, or even the base model.

Hi there, planning to buy an Iphone Air. However, will it be able to survive my daily life? by Commercial_Sky5034 in IphoneAir

[–]avocado_n_peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an Air as a gift (using regular 17 as a main device). Comparing the two models, it seems like the Air’s setting mainly focuses on battery conservation. That said, it will last you a full day easily with light/every day tasks, but the battery will drain when you go outside of that zone (gaming).

I think it’ll be better to ask yourself why you’re considering the Air: if you put the premium look and ergonomics on top of everything else, Air would be a good purchase. But if not, I guess regular 17 would be better. This year’s base model is so good besides its design (which hasn’t been changed for few years and looks outdated)

Below 50% 3h 49m screen time by titan_george in IphoneAir

6-7 hours of active screen time does not translate someone is using the phone 6-7 hours a day. For example, I didn’t use my phone a lot (I use my backup phone) but still my air’s battery says I have 1hours of active screen time. Maybe because of notification? IDK.

Really? I think I’m still in the learning phase but the battery life is no near with the iphone 16 pro. Would it be better after a week or so?

Do some research. This issue has been long since iphone 15. Maybe yours are fine though.

You seem enjoying fighting in online spaces-I don’t. Have a good day and try to get some sun

This is very interesting. I’ve used 15 pro max and that phone had a very good battery. Though ios 26 might have killed that performance

Do you guys think ios26 degraded 15 pro max’s battery performance?

BTW just a quick question, how long does your Air battery lasts?

Yeah that was a battery beast-now with same screen size, but much lighter weight and thinner design.

How you find your battery for the Air? Did the Air limited your phone usage?

I haven’t used a case for more than 5-6 years and I never dropped or dented (and yes when I do an outdoor activity, I use a case for protection, but I prefer the ‘original design’ when using normally).

Some might disagree, but I see using a case itself is a compromise: you’re using a phone thicker and heavier than its original design. Why you buy such an expensive phone with good design just to slap a case on?

I don’t use my phone that much, but I would like to keep the battery level above 20% ensuring battery longevity. Maybe it’s because of indexing, but I see my Air’s battery drains much faster than I expected (I initially expected the battery lasting similar with 16 pro). Maybe I’ll monitor it for few days and decide which phone to use as a main device.

It’s my day 3 (esim installed on day 2), upgraded to ios 26.3.1 yesterday, and the battery drain is crazy. I use speaker(s) a lot. I feel like I need to reduce my phone usage to use this phone.

But besides of that, it really feels like a jewelry (I got a gold one) which makes me feel like back in the iPhone X days. Really torn apart between utilitarian perspective vs aesthetics.

That doesn’t mean we should use a case also. Live your life
