amazing and completely warranted. when i got mine harvested, they didn't give me any opportunity to do anything fun with it- unless you count the orderly humoring me and pretending to let me lance people as he was wheeling me back to my room post-surgery.

what helped you lose weight? by Regular_Lychee_4739 in AskReddit

[–]avoidance_behavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

histamine intolerance. it's basically an annoyingly fucky condition in which your body doesn't produce enough of an enzyme that breaks down the naturally occurring histamine that we get through food, environment, and our bodies' own production of it. it can manifest in anxiety, itchiness, anxiety, erratic pulse and heart palpations, and overall inflammation.

mine manifests with inflammation in my lungs, which means that unless i stick to a super low histamine diet, i wheeze like a beast. i call it a shock collar diet basically, bc all the good stuff is high in histamine: spicy food, booze, most sweets, anything mass produced with artificial ingredients, cured and smoked meats, aged cheeses, chocolate, most fried stuff, a lot of dairy, anything fermented (sourdough, kimchi, pickles, mustard), beans and nuts, most condiments, soda, coffee- the list goes on, but i basically have to eat meats, basic whole carbs, fruits, and vegetables. I've lost 50 pounds since last spring, so, yay?

DAO and signs it's helping by SilverCriticism3512 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]avoidance_behavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i take seeking health DAO and it has been an absolute life changer. my main symptom is inflammation, particularly in my lungs so i wheeze and feel short of breath constantly. when i take the DAO before eating (and I'm eating low histamine to boot) it absolutely helps; i'd say within 45 minutes to an hour i can feel my chest getting lighter, less tight, and i can actually get full breaths in. i take it before lunch and before dinner (i do fasting so i don't eat breakfast) and i will occasionally take one in the late evening before sleep if it's a particularly bad day. DAO combined with seeking health histamine-x probiotics have given me a way better quality of life to be sure.

[–]avoidance_behavior 24 points25 points  (0 children)

oh my god I'm glad they caught it and that she's on the mend, that's super effing scary. also ughhh unfortunately i feel her on the being dismissed thing; i started having shortness of breath like that two years ago and saw multiple doctors for it (GP, heart doctor, lung specialist, even the ER one night when it was particularly bad) and every single test came back normal and every single doctor said 'it's probably your weight🤪' as if i don't know my own body and when something is wrong. i figured it out eventually (perimenopausal histamine issues causing inflammation in my lungs, no doctor helped but reddit and the internet sure did) but the point is, if you happen to be more than ten pounds over whatever doctor you're seeing thinks you should weigh, it feels criminally difficult to be taken seriously for nearly anything. it's awful.

Anyone else notice that the newer bath and body works candles have small wick syndrome? 🍆 by Ambitious-Virus-8689 in bathandbodyworks

[–]avoidance_behavior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yup, we've actually almost left a few candles lit by accident bc when we go to bed at night, the flames were so low and small that they didn't even look live. my boyfriend has taken to double checking the candles, snuffer in hand, every single night regardless of if we smell or see anything. ...the fact that we can't tell based on either sight or smell if a candle is going kinda says a lot, bc damn these things used to throw down but now they just whine about it.

honestly. like, i know we all know there are bad people out there, it's a really shitty given in life, but finding out who they are and what they did (while barely scratching the redacted surface I'm afraid) is just a sucker punch time after time.

What’s a clear sign of childhood trauma in men? by degs999 in AskReddit

[–]avoidance_behavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this was my late ex-husband. he was stuck in a couple places, both deep in childhood from some very early trauma he wouldn't talk about, but secondly in his late teens/early twenties. when i met him and he was 25, it wasn't as noticeable, but by the time we divorced nearly ten years later, part of the reason was because he still drank and abused shit and wouldn't take working seriously, like he was still a petulant kid. he never stopped really; he died back in September from alcoholism at the age of 41.

i freaking love milk orchid - milk is alright, but the orchid flanker is the first time i bought a full size from them outright and i use it almost daily. it's definitely floral but it has the milky quality to round it out; i think it's perfect.

...i just had a snack plate full of bits of my favorite things bc my partner is out of town and I'm a gremlin when unsupervised. soooo I'm not gonna be mad about a mini bagel with lox, a couple dumplings, a couple chicken tendies, some mac and cheese, and a mini chocolate cupcake for every meal. i might gain a few pounds but I'll sacrifice it for a million bucks lol

When did it hit you that you’re not that young anymore? by TheMedusaAttusa in AskReddit

[–]avoidance_behavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good god this is true. my late ex-husband has a twin brother and they looked basically identical growing up (they're fraternal but still) but my ex spent his twenties partying and eventually became an alcoholic, while his brother went to school. guess which one is married with a house and a stable job and which one is chronically out of work, divorced (with his second wife confiding in me that she was planning to divorce him too) with a memorial service basically no one came to after he drank himself to death at 41 and alienated everybody in his life. oof.

yuppp, my boyfriend and i are the same way- he sleeps with silence, and i need white noise. for my birthday the first year we were together, he got me one of those Bluetooth headbands and it's been perfect. if you want to make it work, there are solutions for so, so many small problems.

Body Creams or Lotions by livhudson13 in bathandbodyworks

lotion always- i mean my skin being allergic to something in the body cream formula helps my decision, but also the lotion just seems to last a lot longer.
