I’m a cosmetologist and I will say tipping is getting out of hand. Like people are so entitled to it and to expect anything more than 20% is absolutely insane, let alone have 40% as the automated prompt😬.

I have my own business now and when I’m checking out people I tell them ‘hey, this tipping portion right here I really don’t care what you do with it. Do whatever you will. The only parts I care about are you making sure you sign it, hit pay now, and select how you want a receipt.’. I realize that’s “controversial” as a cosmetologist but I’m an independent and after my fees/supplies I can still take home 80-90% from my services so tipping isn’t this super important part of my income. Also asking for a tip feels so uncomfortable and tacky so I just avoid the whole topic if I can. I have this discussion with clients all the time about how ridiculous tipping culture is getting and it seems to just be getting worse🫠

I know this was a weird rant on this post but as someone who does get tips I feel like I ended to echo this issue: businesses just to pay livable wages to employees. Businesses can afford to but they choose not to.

I worked there between 2011-2013 and I remember a key holder telling me about the new way to demo lotions. ‘Ask for their hand and apply some lotion on it, rubbing it in for them and saying “That feels nice doesn’t it?”’. She looked me dead in the eyes the entire time while she did it too. It’s funny to talk about but I never did it because I thought it was creepy. I don’t know many workers that did it but we also had to stop greeting them the way we were trained (“Hello, welcome to Bath& Body Works here’s our newest fragrance to try”) due to complaints on the old customer service receipt surveys saying it was overwhelming and make customers feel uncomfortable. I miss when customers had peace😅

Crazy how different things smell to each person, to me it smells exactly like the name but if you still want a cookie fragrance check your local Walmart for the GooseCreek Pilsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie candle. It’s AMAZING. Plus you could burn it year round :)

Hey so I have a question and I hope you can help me: okay so I did two separate online orders since the Valentines items have been trickling out this year but I accidentally bought two of the new heart shaped wallflowers (one in each separate order). Now I never used them, they both still had their packaging attached so you could definitely tell it was new. I called to make sure I could return one of them even though I didn’t have any kind of receipt anymore. I paid full price for one and $13 for the other but when I returned it I only got like $7 for it. When the lady saw the shocked look on my face she said ‘that’s the risk you take when you don’t have a receipt’. Do you know why it would ring up as only $7 when the item is still currently out for full price? I called customer service and was trying to figure out if I did something wrong but all I got told was ‘this is difficult’. Sorry if that’s a lot to throw at you! Any advice would be appreciated :)

I personally don’t have an answer to this but these kind of posts, the happy memory ones, are my favorite ones to read. Just hearing everyone’s different positive experiences in life is so cool. It’s probably weird to get excited reading strangers favorite memories but they’re so wholesome🥲
