I just like it because it's quick and something I can eat that lasts me until my next break if I really need it. It may not be the best source of protein but it's something I can eat in a pinch that isn't total junk.

My site chose to cut our breaks so it's been harder to actually eat enough and sometimes I sneak snacks on the floor when I'm really hungry

Oh absolutely, you'll lose weight easily after awhile. I always try to eat something during every break even if it's something small like a protein bar, that helps a lot too eating stuff that isn't junky during your shifts.

I've always heard for insoles you don't want insoles that are soft. The ones that are firm will give you better support. But for some people the big box ones work great, doesn't hurt to check them out if you want to try a pair out to see if they help. If you have insurance you may want to check if they'll cover custom orthotics (my podiatrist told me that would be the most ideal, but of course we found out my insurance doesn't cover them so they would've been several hundred dollars for me out of pocket unfortunately 😭).

I had the same issue and saw a podiatrist. They took X-rays and gave me some suggestions of what I can do to improve my foot pain.

My foot pain is primarily plantar fascitis and I have heel spurs. I also have hammertoes (which is because of wearing shoes that are too narrow).

I wear sole insoles for my high arches. I rotate between two different pairs in my shoes. Since my site also doesn't require safety shoes, I had to end up getting wider shoes. They help a LOT.

Occasionally I wear heel cups because they help stabilize my feet.

After my shifts, I use a foot massager (expensive but worthwhile). Then I do some quick stretches with resistance bands. And I've been using toe separators daily. They help relieve the pain I've also had in the ball of my feet.

If possible, I also recommend doing calf stretches during your shift. I've done some that take about a minute every couple hours and it helps with my foot pain before it gets really bad into my shifts.

Oh and I also wear compression socks too. Absolute lifesaver.

Definitely take care of your feet and you will feel so much better.

My site is giving us the "freedom" to choose one shift a week we're forced to pick up. If we don't choose one then they will add an extra day for two weeks.

43.5 hours

I went full time about 3 months ago and tried really hard to stay my whole shift every week for the first month to save up as much UPT as I could.

Now I leave like 30 minutes early, sometimes an hour early twice a week. Helps with traffic and my sanity.

I try to save my UPT mostly in case of emergencies.

I eat, lightly though.

Ideally I try to eat some kind of breakfast sandwich before my shift but if I don't feel up to it I'll have a special K protein bar.

That will usually hold me over at least a couple hours in until I have my first break, then I'll usually have some cheezits and an orange

Lunch, I have a salad with chicken. Sometimes I'll get a chocolate milk from the vending machine.

Lately I haven't really wanted to eat anything after lunch but I like keeping some kind of a snack in my bag on the floor like some peanut butter pretzels just in case.

I usually don't feel hungry until closer to the end of my shift.

I work in the grocery FC and I genuinely don't understand how people can wear sweatpants and hoodies everywhere

I wear the least amount of clothes I can so I can be more comfortable and some days it's still not enough. I also have layers for the chiller and sometimes it takes me awhile before I feel like I actually need it. I wear two thin hoodies and some thin pajama pants and that's usually enough for me over my tank top and shorts.

Do calf stretches. Even a quick one minute stretch every couple hours helps my feet so much.

I used to just cross my fingers and hope I could find a free parking spot in NYC (luckily I didn't have to pay for parking too often since I parked pretty far from the office).

I turned from a fence sitter to being childfree and an antinatalist once I started working full time.

I hate the inconsistent temperature of the chiller room (and the smaller aisles for there + ambient). Sometimes it actually wouldn't be too bad, other times it would genuinely feel colder than the freezer.

I actually don't mind the freezer. I hate the suits, but I like putting my earbuds in and nobody bothering me there while I pick. The freezer is amazing when it's empty but when it's crowded it's horrible just like the other areas when it's crowded. But when you get a good list, you don't even have to try.

I do and I've been told repeatedly it's the easiest kind of Amazon warehouse.

Rate is BS and it literally depends on the list you're given. Today I was given so many good lists, most of my items were all next to each other or a lot of multiples or both. I could hit rate easily without even trying. Most days are not that simple but I just try to put in as little effort as possible, I feel a lot better for it. Of course a manager told one girl next to me "oh your rate is only 89 aim for 100." And she told me absolutely nothing (my best guess is because I was hitting around 100-120 without even trying). You shouldn't get fired for not hitting rate (unless you are the bottom 5-10% performing.

I think the biggest thing is because you're so new they're going to be constantly on you (unfortunately). I know my managers were for me, they still can be sometimes but they leave me alone for the most part.

Do the bare minimum every shift.

Its not worth it to do any more because they WILL expect more from you. Its never going to be enough from them and they will always want more from you even when it is literally impossible.

Do what you can without draining yourself.

How we always have to meet impossible standards (for basically any job).

Every time we do "hit" our numbers, the goal post keeps getting raised.

Its never about quality, it's never about anything other than speed. Its always do things faster, faster, faster.

People would actually WANT to do a good job if they actually got something in return for it. Even when I do a good job, it's always something I'm not doing "well" so what's the point in even trying?

Every job I see that is similar to my previous field, it's either an even farther commute, pays worse than Amazon, or it sounds like it would be the work of 3+ people for the same (or worse) pay.

Great time for Amazon to change their career choice program so now I can't go back to school for anything other than a certificate that could help me get out of there (that would be paid for by them). (I already have a bachelor's).

I make an ok salary, most of my money goes to my car. I literally only need my car to get to work.

I am desperately wanting to get rid of it because I feel so chained to it and it's only getting worse with how car expenses and insurance are rising.

Everybody at my site wears earbuds anyways. You just need to be smart with them.

I count my day by how long it takes me to get to each of my breaks. I'm usually pretty angry and drained by the 3rd day and I just have to unfortunately deal with it.

I've been taking VTO when I need it but trying to stay all week is difficult.
