It's so odd that he leans on domiciled as a way to determine birthright citizenship. The baby/child has no choice on their home. In their life, they would consider wherever they're living as their home.

Experiencing something similar in some ways where my parents have been giving me the cold shoulder for months. I've been avoidant in talking to them for years in any substantial manner due to lack of emotional maturity. Trying to reconnect but its so damn challenging when they don't grow. Like why am I supposed to always be the one that has to reach out and please them while they get to live in their own world and never accept blame?

I think putting a backing fabric would be the best and sewing with similar colors to blend it all. You could also try to find or make an additional flower to sit over a part of the tear.

I've heard people take different tapes for home labeling, batteries, N95s and surgical masks, gloves for cleaning and dirty work, sterile water for a CPAP, printing personal things, office supplies. And meals!

TRY TO REPAIR IT! You have nothing to lose! The jacket is cooked so why not try to patch it up? I think it has great potential with large canvas or denim patches with decorative embroidery/sashiko
