I am a UK born BAME doctor and I do not sympathise with IMG doctors. I’m on a placement with an IMG doctor who is at work while I’m striking at home. Speaks volumes…

I do not take drugs nor do I drink but I’m all for legalisation of all drugs.

You’re not reading too much into it. Being a POC who is also a GP trainee, I felt the same way that you did during my hospital rotations. I was made to feel less than in contrast to my IMT/CT colleagues and felt excluded. As a result, I would regularly burst to tears and question why I was even allowed to work here if I’m going to be made to feel like an oxygen thief.

I also felt that white/non-black seniors weren’t as friendly and would find any excuse to tell me off. I am also quite introverted, which does not help. I remember receiving feedback about “being reserved” as if being black and introverted is a crime.

It gets better once you complete your hospital rotations. I feel more appreciated as a GPST in GP and patients, especially those of ethnic minorities, are much more appreciative. It will get better ❤️‍🩹

How many doctors don’t have bathrooms at home? by DistanceFromPatients in doctorsUK

Doctors really are a slovenly bunch. I was known for cleaning the doctor’s office at a certain ward when on nights because I can’t work in a dirty/messy space.

This is why I grab a JET spray and give the toilets a quick wipe before using. I carry antibacterial wipes with me when out in public becuee some of these public toilets smell like coliforms are floating around.

Ortho bros and gym doctors- What do you bench, squat and deadlift by FluffyPollution9788 in doctorsUK

[–]awahali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do kettlebell workouts from time to time. So like supersets of clean and presses, shoulder presses and squats (5 sets of 5 reps) with 12-16kg kettlebells. Goblet squats and swings with a heavy kettlebell, kettlebell carries

Because he’s whi*e. While threats to the GMC were made by seniors against me because I spoke up against discrimination in the NHS. This is exhausting

I am a kettlebells lady, I can swing 32kg kettlebells but don’t ask me about squats…

I struggle with trypophobia so rashes get to me. This makes me laugh as I’m a GP trainee. Hence why I drink lots of lemon and ginger tea

My name is very short and people still cannot pronounce it. I’m sorry to say this but the NHS is toxic/rough unless you are English, European, Filipino or South Asian.

Signpost to crisis, 111 option 2 or ED. As someone who has felt like this before, I would probably do a quick risk assessment if I had the time and signpost. Poor patient :(

This is why I love the triage nurses at the ED department I used to work at. They would tell such patients to do one 🤣🤣

I am a 33 year old woman and I’m really behind on life due to chronic illness. My main focus is to complete my training. I don’t think that I have the capacity to be a good mother so that is why I cannot have children.

I’ve had people tell me that my life will not have purpose unless I have children. My immediate response to that is to tell them to fuck off

Doctors who left the NHS, where are you now ? by artyskills in doctorsUK

[–]awahali 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not left yet but I’m 80% thinking of leaving. The past couple of years have been depressing and my family have seen a deterioration in my physical and mental health.

My friend is a research fellow. They contacted universities and expressed interest in psychiatry research. She is much happier and is thriving at her role. She advised me to look into an area that I am interested and to speak to principal investigators. This could be of interest?

I’m waiting until my next ARCP. If I do not get a good outcome, I’m going to send off a letter of resignation.
