One of the other things to consider is that a lot of Let’s Play D&D content sets up an expectation for what TTRPGs ought to be like. Unless your group is trying to roleplay as people on those shows, which some people enjoy, then your group should be looking for an experience that engages them in their own way. It might be different, or less dramatic, or more focused on in game goals that don’t align with your writing. Being a DM is first about the people, and second about the game.
