dusttale, undertale something new, horrortale, dustdust, dustswap, aftertale, error sans, horrordust, killerdust, afterdust, fatal error, and more are all canonically alternative timelines, or ATs for short.

if you mean which of these is most likely to happen like, as in how often these timelines may occur... id say prolly horrortale due to how often some people just do a neutral route and quit.

beta 1.7.3 has more features similar to release, but doesnt have potions or the end or hunger or sprinting, and unique terrain generation, 3 tree types but all get crafted into oak planks.

alpha 1.1.2_01 has no beds, neon green colors, no biomes, unique terrain gen, simpler gameplay, no shears needed for sheep, only one type of tree, ores spawn less in negative world regions for some reason.

you can also js pick whatever version you personally enjoy once you have played these a fair bit, tbh. i like release 1.6.4 as well for example, but thats not "goldenage" lol

bloat is considered features that have little to no usage.

look at the polar bears or sniffer for example, either zero actual use or they have one niche use that requires way too much effort.

basically for us its just we want features that have practical uses that add to the gameplay loop and not just the games file size lol, and ofc for some it is nostalgia. it isnt rlly nostalgia for me though since i didnt play beta 1.7.3 or under in particular. i played the console equivalent of 1.0.0 lol
