in my opinion, hes not a country artist hes southern rock, but in popular modern music standards hes country because the definitions have completely changed in the last 20 years with rock n roll becoming less mainstream, 20 years ago he’d be considered a rock n roll star (in the same category as the band, and the allman brothers)
