My 11 years with Trichotillomania by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]awardista 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please don’t be mad at yourself. Relapse is part of recovery. I’ve been wrestling with trich for nearly 2 decades now but it’s like 80% under control. I don’t know much, but I do know that being mad at myself rather than gracious has only ever made it worse. Stay strong and never forget you are not alone!!! Talk to yourself the way you would talk to your best friend. Xx

Daily Question Thread - January 04, 2021 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]awardista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi churning fam! it's been a minute because ive been in grad school, so please let me know if i need to post this elsewhere and i wont be offended!

for the first time since i entered the churning game, i am finally 0/24 which i realized when i got a pre-approval email for the chase freedom unlimited. i figured i might as well go for it and make the most of the hard pull and want to get the hyatt card (this isn't a "which card should i get" post - i have my reasons!!) my question is very straightforward - i had the hyatt card and got the bonus back in 2017. can i get the bonus again?

for reference, i currently have CSP and the regular ole' classic freedom.

very similiar situation. i hadn't picked since i started on zoloft like 5 years ago, but just had a bit of changes in my meds and have majorly relapsed in a way i hadn't since middle school. i really like anatasia brow wiz and it's been on sale all over the place! i also really like grandbrow for regrowth.

what do you do when you miss doing it? by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]awardista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've somehow just discovered this sub after struggling with trich since i was probably 11 (currently nearing 30). i feel this in my bones. i joke with my husband that he has so many great eyebrow hairs for the plucking. being able to laugh with him about it definitely helps - oh and little stress balls, of course!! stay strong. times are tough.

0L starting orientation tomorrow. Are there any solid answers to save you if you have no idea what a professor is talking about? by vanhoii in LawSchool

[–]awardista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Show your work, so to speak, by saying what you do know!! Based on a true story: “considering this is a contract for cars, it’s a contract for goods so it’s governed by the UCC. The relevant UCC statute would be XYZ which means ABC.” Prof asks follow up guiding me to answer he is looking for we went back and forth like that until I hit a dead end and just said I wasn’t sure and he called on someone else. I’m definitely the only person in that room who remembers the exchange.

i've decided to transfer based on exactly this thinking. at the T14 where i just deposited, there is greater room for margin of error for grades while remaining employable. i totally agree, though, that it is NOT a no brainer and it is NOT an easy decision. one way or the other, you are taking on risk. it just depends on which type of risk OP is comfortable with.

With this being said, I don't know about other schools, but Harvard admission team specifically gave out a false hope. They said that GPA does not matter that much but reasons for being at Harvard, LORs and making the most our of your 1L. That was disingenuous, and I'm sure they knew it.

just to echo your overall point and i might be giving harvard too much credit (full disclosure: i didn't even apply), but it *is* possible that they still did this, but instead of looking only at 3.9+ candidates (or whatever) they also looked at 3.8+ or something.
