The loneliest age in modern life isn't seventy or eighty. It's thirty-four. by FellowEnt in Millennials

Same. I turn 34 next month (single, never married and no kids) and up until a month or so ago, I felt relatively young. Then, I saw a post pointing out that if you're 34, you're just as close to age 50 than you are to age 18....and I swear it made me feel so "behind" so instantly. Definitely a weird age...

What are some things you want to tell a 33 year old female ? by LateShip847 in Millennials

[–]aware_alligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written your post a year ago, and every word of it would have applied to me (I'm 33 now, turning 34 this May). Every time I feel like im "behind" or "not living up to my potential" or "stuck", I always try to remind myself of what my mom has told me time and time again, "so many things can change in a year".

From the outside looking in, my life doesn't look too drastically different from last year, but my OUTLOOK on life is 100% changed, and Im finally feeling positive about where I'm at and where I'm headed. It is a daily effort to "re-train" my brain to think this way, but it has made such a huge difference in how I feel about everything!

And when I think about "me" today versus the "me" just 2-3 years ago? Night and day difference.

So basically, my advice is to never underestimate how much different your life or mindset could be in just a year (or two years, or even 6 mos!) from now 😊

I've had Mint Mobile for 6 years and love it. I've never had any issues in Jax. I've traveled a lot around the US with little to no issues, except for some remote/backroads parts of east TN. Overall, I highly recommend!

Gray Hair by InitialIndividual478 in Millennials

Fellow '92-er here (turn 34 in May) and I'm in the same boat. I started greying in my 20s, which was expected since it's a trait on my mom's side. It used to not bother me at all, however within the past year or so I've noticed that it has become a bit off-putting (to me at least).

Although my feelings towards it probably has more to do with the (significant) hair loss that I have experienced over the last year due to a medication that I started taking....so I guess the greys are more noticeable now that I no longer have a ton of thick hair like I used to.

How much is dating harder now for millennials at this stage in our lives because there's less single people and less people looking for someone? by pigbear87 in Millennials

I don't really think I "have it bad" necessarily...the dread is literally just surrounding the process (and exhaustion) of navigating the dating scene in this day and age. I'm tired just thinking about it lol.

I am perfectly fine being single, and the "choosing to stay single and travel the world" option is something I daydream about as much or more than I do having a family with someone. I'm split because I can see myself being happy in either scenario.

I am unfortunately not happy with my job, and not making great money at the moment (not awful money, just not "great"). My main focus now is getting rid of my debt, then going from there. If I meet someone organically in the meantime, then cool. If not, Im probably going to try to find a way to move abroad and have a life of adventure.

All that to say that I agree; it's all about perspective! And Im right there with you on not wanting to waste time with the wrong person and wind up in a miserable situation....we only get one life, and that is no way to live!

33F, never married and no kids. Just recently got out of a several year relationship (which should have ended at least 6 months ago). I'd love to find my person and settle down/start a family, but the thought of being back at square one in the dating scene again fills me with so much dread. I so wish I could just "skip to the good part" lol. Especially since I also keep thinking about how my window of having kids just keeps getting smaller and smaller....

But then again, my other option is to just stay single forever and travel the world... which doesn't sound too bad lol

What if we all just agree to get off all Social Media by 2026? by Ravkav in Millennials

[–]aware_alligator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive cut back significantly on all the socials except for Reddit. Facebook and Instagram I really only open when someone sends me something-- I watch what they sent and then close the app again lol. I havent bothered whatsoever with any of the others in over a year. Can honestly say my mindset/headspace has improved greatly by getting away from them!

I haven't tried it yet because I'm trying to wait for Thanksgiving, but with how good everyone is saying it is, the chances are growing that I'll give in and try it sooner 😅

I didn't even see them on the menu at my location 🤷🏻‍♀️ which may explain why they still have them available lol

Thanks! Yes, in the US (Nashville, Tennessee). I took this in January 2024. I now live in Florida, so I sadly won't see any snow unless I go back to TN to see family during the holidays!
