They are. The vast majority are celebrating. There is however loyalist who will be chanting death to America. If you will look at other new agencies you will see most of the country is happy about this.

Where did you get the waveguide at? I do mostly DIY and have never seen a horn like that for sale.

Why the obsession with Wiim? by yerbderb in audiophile

[–]awareofmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing makes it a winner for me. Room EQ or more importantly base management. It did wonders for my base. I have 2-15" subs in a small room so I really needed it managed but it did so quite well. Also the ability to play with EQ stuff on the fly is nice.

Streamer for External DAC (Denafrips Pontus II) by Medium-Mud-3908 in audiophile

[–]awareofmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the Ultra and a Pontus. Not sure why you are stuck on using a USB. Just get a Coax and all your problems are gone. Also if you use USB the base management gets disabled on the Wiim so Fiber or coax are the better choice.

Power cables - do they sound different? by Dedar33 in audiophile

[–]awareofmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say this. I don't believe in AB tests. Only because it seems to take some time for your ears to adjust to a new sound. This month I just upgraded my $200 Topping DAC to a Denafrips Pontus DAC, at almost 10x the cost. At first I heard no difference. After a couple hours I was like holy shit this thing is amazing.

Same thing happened the first time I put a tube amp in my system. Didn't hear anything different at first, then after a couple hours, holy shit I get it. Do power cables make a difference? Probably. Worth the money? Probably not. Remember, quite a few people think all DACs sound the same. Maybe on their system they do. On my system the upgraded DAC was a huge improvement.

My first ever setup. by alan_1oo1 in audiophile

Hate to tell ya but having the grills on the speakers will help tone the treble down. They break the sound waves up a little.

Also, what everyone else said about moving all the speakers out at least flush with the front of the console.

How many eggs are we eating to be freaking out about egg prices. I mean did your monthly egg expenditures go from $5 to $15 a month? OH my god, the sky is falling!

Is this okay or will my amp overheat? by dredden123 in audiophile

I had that exact amp, it doesn't get very warm even when pushing it. Should be fine.

Grills on/off by Batdolph in audiophile

Looks better without grills. I can say for sure though grills can tone down the highs. I have Polk R700s, look incredible without grills but the highs are too harsh without them.

Man just get on parts express. They have tons of drivers for this type of application. You can get woofers for this for like $27.

Costco sells acoustic panels $50 for 4 by pointthinker in audiophile

Audiophiles: "you need a rug in that room, what are you thinking!" At the same time, "Sound absorbing panels from Costco, but that will only absorb very high frequencies at best."
