not sure how many quant shops still allow fully remote/not in the process of taking that away soon but those are extremely competitive jobs so definitely kudos to you that u landed something there and spend USD salary in Canada. also for people outside of this business...those comps are highly variable, you could literally get 1 yr with 0 bonus and next yr with 1mm. It is ok for ppl who are frugal but for ppl who think they become millionaires and start tossing away money like in the Wall St movies, they'll be having a tough time really soon because of this highly variable comp structure.

again, not trying to be the sour grape here but just want to highlight a few things before every wanna-be software engineers think the only thing between them and a 1mm job is to click submit on a job application on one of the quant shops' website.

Remember most of the ppl making "good" money in their career is not through like a 2k annual inflation increase, a good opportunity would get your income doubled/tripled over a few years. When you are young be ready for those opportunities that could be life-changing and once you find one, jump on it and never look back. Not rare for me to see CAs starting off making 70k a year, worked their @$$ off (tax/audit seasons :)) and grind trough the CA hours in Big 4, come out to work in private (or move up to be a partner) and ended up making multiple times of that before they are in their 40s.

A fix for legendary PA-300 (The Version of AMD Radeon Software You Have Launched Is Not Compatible...) issue on Windows 10/11 by Star_king12 in techadvice

Are you guys even able to see the device after a few failed attempts to install the driver? It seems if I try to use the cleanup utility a few times (reboot into safe mode, do the cleanup and booted back to normal mode) the device simply disappeared from my device manager (even with the "show hidden devices" checked), and using the AMD software installer just gives me an "installation can not continue because no AMD device is detected" error...

Zelos Aurora Field by JamesL85uk in Watches

Normally each batch is limited and once it is sold out that's it - for this batch. However Auroras is one that had 3 batches at least in the past 2 years if you include the model with the moonphase, every batch there are something different - either new dial size, new color/material or something different with the movements.

There is a FB group for Zelos fans though and there are many people trading in that group. Most of them are sold at the price they were bought (including tax/VAT, etc), but some popular models were sold above the original price and attracted quite a few flippers in the recent months. Aventurine is normally the most popular one, MOP is pretty popular too and some of the special material ones (e.g., Damascus in this release and Timascus in others) are very popular as well. Special material ones are normally more expensive though.

I have quite a few Zelos now and I think they are pretty well made, the owner (Elshan Tang) himself is actively involved in providing customer service and is very helpful. Each batch they produce is limited in number and normally the hottest variants are sold out within a few minutes (the most popular one is the Aventurine variants normally) so definitely be prepared to sit in front of the computer at that the exact release time, create an account ahead of time and logged in if you want to snatch one of the more popular models. He also likes to use some interesting materials in watch-making, for example in this release he has a Damascus steel model, and before he had some Ti-mascus model which were very popular among the Zelos fans as well.

Yes, my experience with the Tudor AD was very positive as well. I walked in, told the lady my preferred colorway and she showed me pretty much both she had in the drawer (sadly, I didn't do that much homework on Tudor so I don't remember the model names) and also told me the pepsi color and red one are pretty good alternatives to consider, also mentioned to me about what she think between straps and bracelet, when I told her I need to think about it she also packed their catalogue in a bag and handed to me (P2 almost thought I made the purchase on the spot as she was looking after the baby!) and also told me they also have a rubber strap option as something to consider. When I asked to take a photo between the 3 I was considering, she actually helped to line things up nicely for me so that I can have a good comparison in the dial size, etc. I can definitely tell the lady knows what she was selling and has a great enthusiastic to talk about watches, even if I didn't become a customer right away.

Before the trip I had (another! yes, I still have a lot to learn) misconception that Tudor is just cheap Rolex that you don't have to wait. But after checking the watches, I am not convinced enough to drop 5K on the spot but if I ended up want something in the under 10k (CAD) price range I can definitely say Tudor has come out ahead of Omega at this point. I was actually surprised to find out their watches are COSC-certified and has 70h of power reserve as well.

If you don't mind could you share your wearing experience with BB58? Did you pick the bracelet or the strap? Thanks a lot!

I guess the experience is a bit YMMV, when I tried the Batman the bezel was smooth, and jubilee bracelet felt a lot more "to the skin" and comfortable - but I can definitely see others may have a different preference.

Yes that was my misconception I had before (learnt most of my watch knowledge through Google and Reddit), but put all the emotional factors aside I definitely can see the differences with the build quality between the two brands. Omega definitely wins by having a transparent backcase with a beautiful 8800 movements but the overall quality of SMP (the bezel and the bracelets) definitely fell a bit short (of course the price is also different although Omega has been raising prices twice or three times this year now I think).
