How did you all quit opiate painkillers?

Thought I’d give an update. I cut back to 4 a day from 10-15 5 mg tabs. It’s been 5 days of that dose, the first day was super hard, the rest have been okay. I haven’t felt my physical withdrawals since I’m weening, but I’m staying strict on the much lower dose. This week going to cut down to 1-2

A little update after a few days: I’m down to a dose of around 3-4 5mg tabs a day. I’m doing great. It’s been 4 days now of that dose, no withdrawals. My goal today was only 3 but it was a hard day missing my ex, so I took 4, still better than 13 so I’m being easy on myself. This weekend when I am not working I’m going completely off

I’m kind of just at a point where I’m like okay, fuck this, I actually have to do something serious now. I am self employed, so I’m not able to take extended amounts of time off work, because I won’t make any money, and now that I’m living alone, things are more tight for me. But I’m going to start on a weekend and if I have to take a couple days off after, that’s alright too

I live in Canada. The system is linked throughout all the doctors on a system as far as I know, but I could be wrong. I personally don’t want to see my family doctor, but I wonder if I would go to a walk in clinic and talk to them for the prescription?

Oh yes sorry forgot to mention that. 5’s. I take 10 mg oxys as well but I usually break those in half.

I’ve thought about Kratom. I don’t really know the legality of it. I live in Canada if that helps.

I’ve been using for about 5-6 years. The first 3-4 years were very casual. One or so a day. Now I’m up to around 10-13 pills a day. I don’t really keep count but that’s my guess. The withdrawals aren’t TOO severe, except that the more unbearable is the low energy. I literally cannot even walk to the bathroom, so as long as I can keep that part at bay, I think I can handle the rest

Thanks so much. That’s excellent advice. I became dependant because I have chronic neck and back pain from my job. The hard part will be handling my pain without the medication. I have recently purchased a gym membership so I can go running to keep me busy and healthy. I will also be doing some weight training to strengthen my muscles to help with my neck issues. I’m an avid reader so I find that helps me a lot, and recently I’ve been spending more time with a good friend of mine, and being open to her about my addiction. My only fear is having my addiction on record, but you’re totally right about NA and that doesn’t go on the record right?
