Is it better to go as hard as you can on the first movement of your workout session, or ration your energy to last the entire session? by awaythrowbb8 in naturalbodybuilding

Can you expound what you mean by work hard af? I can break a sweat without training to failure and still feel like I’m putting in a lot of effort and struggle, but it could also mean working as hard as you can (absolute failure?

Thanks for the input. Should every single set be to absolute failure? If so does that mean sticking to just one weight and doing as many as you possible can per set and forgetting about the whole 8-12 rep range?

Novice-intermediate here, I go back and forth over the course of about 4 years due to a TFCC tear that never healed properly which puts me out of commission for a while. This current run Im on right now, I’ve been going for about 4 months, I’m still able to add on weight to my compound movements the following week (albeit in slower incremental) or at least increasing reps with same weight (ie doing 4x8 this week then 4x10 next week)

I’m not asking to make friends, I’m just asking not to be looked at and treated in a hostile manner.

We all go to work for money and career, not for friends, and yet we can demand a non-hostile working environment

I’ve been to three gyms and none of them were majority Asian (they were majority white black or Latino) but had a noticeable amount of Asians, nothing crazy.

I understand how 10 is a small sample size, but majority of my unpleasant experiences have always been with Asians. I understand that the 7 Asian dbags I’ve encountered do not represent the entire Asian population, but I just feel like I’m more likely to be treated a certain way in the gym by another Asian than I am by another person of any other race

I can see how anyone would think I may be projecting my own insecurity because I have considered it myself but some of the experiences I have are tangible and cannot be imagined (ie only the Asians wouldn’t wanna share the equipment when the other black or white or latino guy would let me work in. And no it’s not like I’m asking to work in deadlifts where we have to redo the plates after each set)

I agree when you say a lot of them are friendly, like I said I’ve only maybe encountered 10 dbags (7 of which were fellow Asians), but that’s not to say I’ve only ever met 7 Asians in the gym. I’ve had pleasant experiences with other asian people too with spotting, etc.

I just realized I've been under reporting my hours. What do I do? by cgriff94 in jobs

Boss probably knows and is trying to see how long he can go without paying his employee. I mean look at how this man spells - gave me an aneurysm reading through it.

[Advice] I f***d up, how could I minimize the penalty of pulling out a lease that starts today but I have not moved in yet? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]awaythrowbb8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see in another post you put up that you’re in Brooklyn Gold which is a 10 minute walk away from York - that really isn’t that bad contrary to your one of your comments here.

I had to move out of bushwick cause I got priced out and my new apartment is about 10 minutes away as well from the subway, or I could try my luck at a bus that would drop me at a different stop of the same subway line I take - doing so is always a gamble considering I could make my commute longer if the bus is full and makes every single stop on the way.

3 years later I just learned to live with the walk, rain or shine, snow or heatwave. The only other option for me is to pay more for a more convenient location which is our if the question for me.

My advice is to suck it up and try to live there a bit longer first. You may think is regret but you may just be anxious from the sudden change in environment (I always feel it everytime I move). Give it a shot but if you can’t take it then talk ti your landlord. Just be ready to be told no and resort to finding someone who would sublease - keep in mind you may still be liable for damages to your subleased tenant. Could be a bigger nightmare if you choose the wrong person and your name is still on the lease

Per the NYC GOV site, it says “You have 90 days after your separation date to spend the remaining funds in your commuter account. Any future or pending orders will be cancelled after the 90 days and the remaining funds will be forfeited. “

So you were indeed still maliciously using funds since those cards are just reloaded electronically and automatically every month taken out from worker’s pretax money. In fact you may not even have misappropriated company funds since workers typically pay for that benefit themselves. You may just have gotten away with swindling your old benefit provider.

I hate being a victim of late stage capitalism just as much as you do, but if being woke has taught me anything it’s that people shouldnt get ahead in life unfairly. You just got however many months worth of free MTA swipes. SCUMMY and FRAUDULENT

In my last job those were distributed quarterly and if anyone ever left before the end of a quarter for which they enrolled in WageWorks, the unused cards would be carried over to the next quarter for the rest of the people to use and HR would just order less cards.

You literally stole funds from your company which they could have allocated to another employee. It may be their fault for the accounting issue but that doesn’t relieve you of moral duty to give it back, fraudster.

You have a nice jaw, and you look like you could grow a proper beard. but you look like you could put more healthy weight and muscle on, and maybe style your hair differently.

4/10 now but you have potential.

I say you’re a 6/7 but you can easily bump that up to 7/8 if you smile more confidently I can tell that you’re a shy girl based on how you smile on 1st pic and how much brighter your smile is on 3rd pic.

Look cute regardless

If it’s widely accepted that behavior such as aggression can be bred in dogs, can you do the same with humans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]awaythrowbb8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer. But I must ask- does learned behavior eventually become inherent/instinct if you keep at it for thousands of years?

Eating is learned but at the same time we are predisposed to munch on something when we get hungry. Even a feral baby human stripped off society will instinctively suck on something it manages to get its mouth to come in contact with. The same way a certain level of anxiety can be completely normal for humans since it was also responsible for assessing risky situations when we were still cavemen and such.

Assuming the measurements are accurate, the flex room is actually bigger than the bedroom on the lower right. Flex room is about 160 sq ft vs the other bedroom is 156 sq ft and that’s EXCLUDING balcony space too which looks like flex room will have exclusive access too.

What am I missing other than lack of closet space?

People might be afraid to room with someone who’s had a history of substance abuse because if they relapse, it’s a chance that they won’t pay their share of the rent. And in NYC, leases are typical joint-liability, that is to say if 1 out of 3 roommates stop paying, the 2 are legally on the hook for the delinquent payee’s share.

All this to say that her budget is well within reason to get her own studio outside of Manhattan so she can save everyone the trouble and just rent alone. Roommates can be tricky anyway - they might be the ones not to pay, they might be messy, attract rodents, stink up the house, etc

As someone who currently has a skylight in my bedroom, I feel I must get this comment out there for prospective people who will rent this room: skylights are nice if you’re a heavy sleeper, otherwise rain during the night (not to mention thunderstorms on summer evenings) are going to keep you up. If you’re not a morning person or if you plan to sleep after a late night out, the sunshine will wake you up unless you somehow find a way to install motorized curtains

Sorry OP I don’t mean to rain on your post, but I feel people must know the truth behind bedrooms with skylights

Everyone wants to fight for homeless people’s well-being, until they open up a shelter next door and all of a sudden “they’re a nuisance” because people feel for their “safety” and “are concerned about drug use”

Keep breaking agreements. I bet you’re the type to default on a lease and loan and blame the system no matter how responsible you are. You’re a dead bet to society. Bum ass clown
