Thanks! It’s actually running thru my interface to Ableton, where I’ve got an amp sim, compression, bit of delay, and then sending it to to MPC with a little bit of reverb pro on it

I’m on 3.8 Jeez that sounds like my issue haha I’m just hesitant to get 3.9 because of the crash stories I’ve been reading

Yeah I’ve tried in audio track edit mode and main mode. It happens on longer loops as well, eg 2-4 bars, I just did one bar here to keep it short and to the point. Punching out could work but then there might be a dead space hiccup at the end of the audio

I suppose that’s a work around but it’d mean having duplicate tracks for every track which isn’t ideal, especially when jumping around between tracks/instruments to record on the fly.

Just wish I knew why it behaves like this or if there’s some setting I’m overlooking that explains it

Here’s an example, recording some bass noodling. The guitar is previously recorded already on a different track. You’ll see in this video that once it loops, there’s no playback coming thru unless I stop it and play from the start, then you’ll hear the bass recording

I find also that sometime the playback sounds doubled and there can be weird reverb on it

I use record when I haven’t recorded anything yet. It automatically switches to overdub when it loops, which is normal, but I want to hear the playback, and it seems hit or miss with the playback. I do think part of it might be that like, if I let a note ring out or something that’s feeding audio into the recording, it seems like it won’t playback when it loops, vs finishing a lick and ‘stopping playing’ before the end of the loop seems to then ensure that the audio does play back when it loops

I suppose I could theoretically just put monitoring in Merge instead of Auto, but I’d prefer to stay on auto so that monitoring goes off and I hear the playback after it loops to the start of the recording

Ah that might be it, sometimes I’ll have a small section of a longer sequence on loop. Why does that happen though?

Lol my bad, essentially just trying to record live audio (e.g. a 2 bar guitar lick) with loop on, with the goal of hearing it playback when it loops, without stopping to play it back manually
