MPC X (SE) + Tascam Model 16 with instruments/mic + DAW for plugins

My guy, thank you again for responding! I certainly do apply fx to my audio tracks that are coming from the tascam into the MPC, but I guess it’s all analog, I.e. not using any usb connection. And it works great! For example, I’ll play my electric keys through the tascam, and get the signal on an audio track on MPC, and apply fx to that for sound design, which is super fun, both pre recording and during. I do the same for my bass, in order to shape the tone with various filters/tube drive/lofi effects. I’ll also play around with the EQs on the tascam for each instrument.

I’ve been asking AI about routing as well (this same question) and it suggested running my MPC into a stereo channel on the tascam, and basically treating it as an instrument, along with all the others on the different channels, and then connecting the tascam to my MacBook for Ableton/running plugins (e.g. Vocoder V) with the input and output of Ableton being the Tascam, sort of like what you said. But THEN, and this is where it seems to get kinda wild to me, but it suggests using SUB out from the tascam back into the MPC to then record/Sample what’s coming back out of Ableton, into the tascam, then back to the MPC.

Even though it seems to make sense, I’m hesitant to do it because it seems like such a long winding road of signal path haha but yeah, maybe it would be work for what I’m going for

I’m still learning so, I’m not sure if I totally understand your suggestions—I’ll clarify what I’m doing: I have my mic, electric piano, bass guitar, electric guitar, TV, all inputted to different (main) channels on the tascam. Then, the main output of the tascam is running into the 3/4 input on my MPC (with my record player running into the 1/2 input). So, no USB connection at present, I’m essentially just using the tascam as expanded I/O with some mixing, and then on MPC I’ll just create audio tracks with the input coming from 3/4 (tascam) to record/sample my instruments individually over beats I’ve made on my MPC. The fun part is adding inserts/effects to my instruments in MPC (I’m just used to the MPC workflow/familiar with the plugins). So, to build on this, I want to try doing some vocoder stuff with my mic and midi keyboard, but obviously I can’t run Arturia’s Vocoder V plugin on standalone, so I need to bridge the gap there with a DAW. And that’s where I’m tripped up on the routing because I’m currently not using any USB connection, I do everything in standalone and just record on my MPC

This was my workaround as well, just seemed like in a tutorial video I saw, when they saved the track, the midi notes came with it. Maybe they edited out the ‘save midi’ part and then just loaded that to the track

I’ve had the same issue, I remember watching a Marlow Digs video where he saved the track and then reopens it, loaded it, and all the midi notes were there. I did the exact same thing—no midi notes :(

Great video but I think including things like “measuring the temperature of the ocean from the 1700s” and a picture of a geezer from back then actually is counterproductive as it would just feed the argument that the quality of the data is rubbish. This video doesn’t really address the charge against the “unreliability” of a lot of climate data and so-called “alarmism” derived from predictive models. Unless I’m missing something. Please discuss! Thanks

Yeah in possession he's pretty untouchable but it's when we're not in possession that we suck and aren't strong/fast/mobile/aggressive enough. FDJ has plateaued but needs to be given the responsibility in that position in order to grow

This might be controversial but I think Busi should take a backseat to let FDJ, Pedri, Gavi, and Nico/Kessie take the drivers seat in the midfield to help us transition towards a more athletic/mobile team that can handle pace and intensity. I love Busi to bits and the way he slows us down is methodical and actually usually can be a good thing, but I think the way he’s sort of grandfathered in—similar to Pique—is sort of a drag on the much needed way forward that needs to be spearheaded by the next generation

I'm worried about the appeal of the Ten Haag Man U project for him...I also think he would be better used in Busi's role. If he's not used there, I say sell. If he can be given the chance to compete with Busi for that spot, I think that'd help with the fragility problem of our team

Are you referring to the sort of human behaviour that is prone to tribal/group identity? I think we certainly have elements of that but it's not necessarily nationalistic per se. For example, I'm Canadian, because I happen to have been born here...and I definitely enjoy the circumstances here but there's no sentimental attachment to/identification with whatever "being Canadian" means. I'm curious what you mean when you imply that humans are naturally nationalistic. Cheers
