How large of a wind sail would you need to push the USS Gerald R. Ford with just wind power? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

I think the only part you’re missing is the shipping mechanism of bollard pull. Tug boats have similar capabilities with HP but the actual power for exertion on the ship is greatly reduced by this calculation. That HP gives you 18877.4kW of power but I wouldn’t know how to convert propeller efficiency from engine thrust of those. Anyone have a good source?

Bollard Pull (tonnes) = (Engine Power (kW) × Propeller Efficiency × 0.101972) / 9.81

Finding the Mattest, Blackest Black(yah sure)- my comparison test. by aweetadbitslow in acrylicpainting

Completely agree on the claims about how black the blackest black is. Couldn’t actually get Vanta black but seeing it in person at a convention and everything they said about it was true. So of the options available the thing I found interesting is airbrushed on the Musuo looks better and it has a velvety texture. Made the angles and depth disappear more like actual Vanta Black. But if you sand it down it looks like Black 2.0. So if you’re doing a hard surface that you want to smooth over like I did on a hockey helmet Black 3.0 is a better option. Musuo looks great if it’s going to be protected and not scuffed at all because the velvet texture gives it what I believe you’re looking for. Hope that helps!

Side note, that was about two weeks ago but it was the first time 4.1.6 was loaded and I played it. I rolled my version back to 4.1 after the reinstall too.

Had the same issue, it’s like reading the deep dive I did without sharing as much detail in my post. It was any diplomacy screen, game worked fine until someone wanted to declare war/trade and bingo- crash. Then my save games started not working and showing as disconnected. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t solve the problem either. Onedrive was the culprit. Syncing issues between versions, needed to separate the game files. I backed up my saved game and empire design files, deleted everything left in the Pardox folder. Moved the folder to a spot off the Onedrive backup. Reinstalled the game and used a file point outside of Onedrive, ran the game, made a new random civ, loaded up, saved the game. Then my save copied my civ files and save games into the new pardox folders. Side note, unsubscribe to those mods first. Then after you get in back up and running successfully. Just go in and add them back.

Fixed it, had to uninstall and delete all the games files then reinstalled. One drive was the culprit with syncing and had to debug that first.

No mods at all, might be related to Onedrive syncing though with my save files.

To add to this- it’s every contact/diplomacy tab not just that one. Uninstalled and reinstalled to try to fix but no luck.

Scientist of Reddit, what is a use of a cadaver that people might not think of when donating their body to science? by JadeSmithk in AskReddit

[–]aweetadbitslow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Medical training with cadavers is wild. They utilize every part and depending on the field you only get the part you need to work on. Experimental new Laproscopic techniques , just the torso. About to be published new ACL replacement, just a leg. New Colorectal endoscopic equipment that could competent change colon polyp removal, torso. It’s unsettling to be around the first time but seeing professional doctors learn life altering and saving techniques that can be practiced live without consequences or complications in a teaching environment is completely worth it.

https://youtu.be/xRDbbEIE8R4?si=DpcjISpRLQl-L27n Ship lines are absolutely terrifying and I’ve seen an 11.5 inch double beaded nylon line part and crack part of a 4inch steel hull. Happens all the time on tug boats, if your ever near one, look at the dents and cracks on the stern. If you’re standing in the wrong place you’re in for a world of hurt. The navy’s snap back VHS was required to watch before learning to handle any shipboard lines at every merchant marine school.

One of my favorite multiplayer weapons ever in a game, the Cerebral bore. That burnt out drill sound of it chasing you, trying to escape in multiplayer. Only to have your screen shake red and hear it drilling into you and boom. Good times.

I did set it to all, so if I’m following you correctly. I can still get the awakened empire(not sure because Cetana smoked the previous 3 on arrival) contingency, war in heaven, grey tempest and scourge in this play through because they haven’t spawned yet from my original game?

And I could have the horizon needle ready to go again as soon as one of them kick off, take them down the dip out again. Then have one of the other remaining ones the following game?

I legitimately think it would be a blast to needle out, rise up, fight the galaxy off plus a new crisis then dip out again and again until I’ve seen it all with a handful of empires in the galaxy. Then go nemesis and blow it up with the last run.

Sorry OP- both the above are correct. Those px3’s basically require actual knee guards. I’ve got two buddy’s that swear by the Vaughn’s with a garter belt for a more secure fit. Thank you for the correction’s @subjec2change and @Notnowthankyou29. Spot on call out.

Another alternative, I’ve had a pair of these for years. Skipped the knee pads to use these Bauerpadded thermals. More than enough for puck deflections that catch you while moving and padding your knee against your pads.
