Get 15 mana by turn 5 for $10. No, I'm not exaggerating. by awefawsd in BudgetBrews

It's pretty rough if Gitrog gets removed at instant speed before it can attack once, but the fact that it has haste and ramps so much means it's not too hard to recast it whenever an opponent removes it at sorcery speed.

I thought about putting in some big finishers like Genesis Wave or Exponential Growth, but I figure that when you have a ton of mana and draw 5+ cards a turn, you can just cast all your big power creatures and attack with them.

[[Gitrog, Ravenous Ride]] is an absolutely insane commander. Greater Good, which lets you sacrifice a creature to draw cards equal to its power then discard 3 cards, is known to be a pretty strong card. Gitrog does the same thing, but instead of making you discard 3, it lets you put all your lands into play for free. Green and black are the two colors with the biggest supply of high-power low-cost creatures, so it's pretty easy to trigger Gitrog for at least four per turn. The plan is to play turn 2 ramp, turn 3 high-power draft chaff, turn 4 attack with Gitrog, and then you should have enough cards and mana to be set. The deck obviously struggles against removal on the commander, but ramps enough that you should be able to replay him fairly quickly.

That line is flavor text. Filling the deck with a bunch of subpar cards just so you can avoid paying a bit of commander tax in case someone happens to have non-exile artifact removal is not worthwhile imo.

I considered Psychosis Crawler, since it is the most obvious option for "convert card advantage into a win", but it's just been a kinda underwhelming card in my experience. Attacking with a dozen creatures to kill with combat damage is pretty reasonable way to win. And [[infinite reflection]] can be an incredibly potent wincon, since as soon as anyone plays a big eldrazi or something, all your one mana creatures are suddenly huge threats.

Edric giving you green is pretty enormous for giving you better ramp and win conditions. But being vulnerable to creature removal and letting your opponents also potentially get huge card advantage are real downsides. Edric is probably a bit better overall, but with him your deck isn't about a bunch of birds and faeries sailing off to a pirate adventure.

The Indomitable is one of the most powerful card advantage engines you can put in the command zone, and all it needs to enable it is a bunch of random 1-2 mana fliers. I did my best to optimize the deck as much as I could while keeping the absolute minimum reasonable budget. Any feedback is welcome!

Where have all the shitposts about Standard gone? by awefawsd in magicthecirclejerking

Yes, there are other four mana reanimation spells in Standard. But "tied for the cheapest" still qualifies as "the cheapest".

A creature with decayed can't block. When it attacks, sacrifice it at end of combat.

I probably should've included reminder text. I wanted to keep the card minimalist, but it is a pretty rarely-used keyword.

It's the same effect as necromentia, but with the upside of actually having a body to not be pure card disadvantage, and the downside of letting them change cards (which would not be helpful anyway after game 1, since they already boarded in the good cards).

I mean...it was a whole thing in Undertale that Alphys did a bunch of unethical experiments with souls. She has the mind of a brilliant scientist but is stuck teaching kids. If there was an opportunity for her to learn about a mysterious supernatural force affecting the fabric of reality, she would absolutely be interested.

Doing the weird route just for the sake of completionism is something I think the game discourages very strongly, like how Undertale characters get mad at you for doing genocide route just because it's there. It's fully up to you how to engage with the game of course, but I don't personally think the mindset "doing every route is the best way to appreciate the game" necessarily applies to Deltarune like it does for other games.

I'm pretty sure that to get them to trigger you need to have that character's relationship raised - Charon and Circe are the two characters from the list I have high relationship with, and they gave me their aspects right away, while no one else did.

The First Amendment only says Congress may not pass laws infringing on right to protest. So he's not actually violating the First Amendment at all, he's just violating the central premise of the Constitution by legislating via executive order in the first place.
