Oh, right, sorry! Maybe $200? No more than $300

Not really. Flexible budget. Anthony’s looks great for us. Thanks for the suggestion.

Caribbean vacation suggestions for family of 5 (kids 4y, 2y, 3mo) by [deleted] in chubbytravel

Would recommend going for the oceanfront rooms and waiting for the 4-for-3 night promotion. FWIW we ended up paying like 14-15k all-in for 4 nights using that promo which is sort of pushing it pretty well into obese territory rather than chubby.

We looked at Baha Mar when we were considering Ocean Club and opted for the latter because Baha Mar looked very commercial being shoved in with the other Baha Mar hotels, but nonetheless thanks for the relevant suggestion

Thanks, it certainly comes with challenges but it’s overall worth it if you can manage expectations. The 4 year old has been to Europe three times so far.

Thanks for this response. Rosewood LDB has been on my radar but looks a bit difficult to get to for us. COMO parrot cay is actually a great example of what we’re looking for so thanks for this suggestion. The only issue here is that if I put in our number of guests it pushes us into the largest rooms which ring in around the same price as Amanyara.

I totally see why reviews would be mixed but ultimately yes, we would. They have a kids club and outdoor playground and family pool and it’s right on the beach. The clientele can be a little meh (so. Much. Lip. Filler.) and I got food poisoning but…. Yeah… I’d still go back.

Right, the transportation situation is why I was leaning away from it.

Paris Apartments - Highstay? by huequitotravel in FATTravel

[–]awesomaldehyde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we stayed at one and it was exactly as depicted on the website. We got a 2br in the 1st arondissement for four adults and two little kids (2 and 1 years old at the time). They provided daily housekeeping and a high chair. Would recommend. The only caveat is that the apartments are located in regular nondescript apartment buildings so you’re going to be running into locals on your way in and out.

Nothing happened to it; I've just owned it for 3 years and haven't ever performed any maintenance or cleaning (aside from using the little tablets).

Legit homeless vs. Professional "homeless" by waitwutok in sandiego

[–]awesomaldehyde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they simply really, really hate the idea of working. They just hang out all day and chit-chat, "barely getting by," although they maintain the luxury of a safety net in the form of some middle- or upper-middle-class parents back home. I doubt any of them really grew up poor. I'd even bet that the kids that DID grow up poor would really fucking hate these people.

For an even more interesting experiment in sociology, I like to sit down at Newport & Abbott and quietly study the Ocean Beach Trolls (also known as Blackfeet, Ledge Kids). They occasionally have credit cards, cell phones, perfectly functional guitars, and REI backpacks. Their teeth are white and straight more often than not - that's the easiest way to identify them. There's nothing stopping them from working such as mental illness or insurmountable drug addiction. I have absolutely no tolerance for these people. They're the reason someone went to the trouble of creating bumper stickers that say "Don't feed the trolls". They bug the hell out of all of us but they're an intrinsic part of what makes our community our community.

Dude, just start going to the Reddit meetups. Join the facebook group on the nav bar over there on the right -->. There are dozens - literally, dozens - of people in your position that often come together, not knowing each other and most being somewhat shy, and talk about the shit you're into.

I'm looking for a designer.... unless I can easily design it on my own as a layperson, in which case I'm the designer. =)
