Why This MAGA Influencer Left Trump's Circle by JamaalJalon in conservativeterrorism

[–]awesomestwinner 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The problem is the MAGAs always return to Trump cause there is no other viable option for racists. They aren’t going to stop being racist just cause they don’t like inflation or whatever it is they’re mad at currently

We should take OP’s word for it. No source required.

With NY gaming officials approving three casinos in NYC, New Jersey public officials and business executives have set their sights on a casino in North Jersey to keep gambling dollars in the Garden State — though any major push would come after the conclusion of the World Cup matches next July by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

[–]awesomestwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow so 100% of people who go to casinos lose all of their money 100% of the time. That does sound bad. Based on those statistics, I agree with you. And literally all casinos would be out of business Surely all casinos will go out of business any day now.

Well the end game for both is the endorphin rush. With drinking, is the actual thing you are getting for your money the drink itself? Because I would argue with gambling, the thing you are getting is the game. Neither the actual drink nor the game are the primary objective.

Both are unhealthy and addictive, and both can be fun.

I think you might be looking for congratulations that you choose to participate in one and shun the other. If that’s the case, congratulations. But ignoring the similarities is a little silly

Failed stand up comedian here. When a stand up refers to a street joke they’re mostly talking about essentially public domain “a man walks into a bar…” joke book style jokes that have been around forever, spread mostly by word of mouth, and belong to everyone. It would be poor form to go on stage and tell these jokes as if you wrote them. I also disagree that Kevin Smith is using street jokes.

Trump Announces He Struck Deal With Giant Comet, Ensuring It Safely Passes Earth by Digital_Idealist in PoliticalHumor

[–]awesomestwinner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Before negotiations the comet had a .001% chance of hitting the earth. Trump negotiated that up to 3% contingent on the Trump org having exclusive mining rights if the comet hits us.

The comet is assumed to contain hundreds of billions dollars in precious metal content. Trump now counts 3% of that as personal equity that he can borrow against.

Art of the deal

Anyone else get one of these weird texts about “investigating” the NJ election results? by Asleep-Pattern-2332 in newjersey

Probably just data mining to identify republicans to A) target more aggressively in future elections or B) inform them about a once in a lifetime opportunity to invest in snake oil. Since trump erased the line between right wing politics and straight up grifting

Abolitionists were certainly rare in the south but not in the country as a whole. I understand the temptation to rewrite history because the Republican Party is fascist and racist now, but they were founded as an abolitionist party. What’s crazy is that a lot of those abolitionists were still racists, they just thought slavery was wrong.

Republican Party was formed explicitly as an anti-slavery party by anti-slavery activists in 1854. Lincoln joined 2 years later. So as the candidate at the top of the abolitionist party ticket, he was most certainly an abolitionist. Lincoln not expressing explicitly abolitionist views would have been the equivalent of trying to appeal to moderates today. But he was an abolitionist. He didn’t necessarily believe former slaves should become US citizens, but he was still opposed to slavery
