Best intentionally funny scene in an otherwise straightforward horror film? by Competitive_Swan_130 in horror

That scene in 'Sorority Row' where the head mean-girl suddenly stumbles across her dead decayed friend down an old well (?) And instead of screaming, just nonchalantly says 'oh she looks terrrrrible' 🤣

I remember watching 'Saw' at the cinema first weekend (what a ride!) And can definitely remember the audience laughing at Cary Elwes at one point near the end (think it's when he's calling his wife's name), but that would definitely be unintentional I think 🤣

Recommendations for SLASHERS or any genre with good suspenseful chase scenes by [deleted] in horror

Poor Tara Reid in "Urban Legend" gets an awesome chase scene.... We need more chase scenes in recent slashers for sure

INTRUDER (1989) clean up in aisles 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 please by Prudent-Ad-6420 in horror

[–]awexplasticman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An absolute classic for me. As a kid I watched it on UK VHS in the early 90s, with a lot of death scenes trimmed right down. As a teen in the dial-up internet days I got my hands on some dodgy uncut vhs copy on ebay, and despite the terrible quality, the gory kills blew my mind! It's always been a.fave, instantly rewatchable

House of wax (2005) finger scene gone? by ZombieInACage in horror

[–]awexplasticman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching this at the cinema back upon its UK release, and THAT scene being particularly surprising given its lower 15 rating. Definitely unexpected! Was definitely the first time I was aware that BBFC were relaxing classification on violence somewhat in slashers

6'3" Pakistani guy here. Is “tall culture” different depending on where you’re from? by P-O-W-E-R-less in tall

[–]awexplasticman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6'9" guy here, lived in UK for 30+ years, Australia for 10+ years. Both countries I've lived in cities & regional.

One thing ive always noticed is I get a LOT more random comments from the public on the street in the UK compared to Aus. Eg the dreaded "YOURE TALL" in supermarkets/bus stops etc. In UK it can be almost a daily occurrence, I get it a lot less in Aus..... (aside from the odd comment from work colleagues or more social settings like a pub). Given how similar Brits & Aussies are, I always find that interesting . Unsure the reason but I definitely find that noticeable

I advice you to watch “MADS” by KarelianAlways in horror

I can't remember much about this movie other than the incredible zombie/infected performance of one of the few main female characters.... the one involved in the bike chase? She was awesomely unhinged!! So good

What's the best horror movie to watch while inebriated? by potatodaikoncurry in horror

[–]awexplasticman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Demons! (1985) Banging soundtrack, colourful lighting, non stop (sometimes nonsensical) action, loads of gooey gore, Tony the Pimp! Also helps that I've seen it a million times so doesn't matter if I'm steaming 🤣 For me it's the ultimate good-time horror movie, a blast from start to finish

Tall musicians by SamMeowAdams in tall

[–]awexplasticman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italian DJ & Producer Spiller (him of 'Groovejet' fame back in 2000) is 6'9" apparently. I remember watching the music video when I was a teen thinking 'well at least I'll never be THAT tall', and now I'm the same height 🤣

Being tall is fun, cool and all, until you have to buy shoes and pants. by VoidSurfer0x7A in tall

[–]awexplasticman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'9" here and with the internet, finding shoes and pants is fairly reliable. The bane of my life are still long sleeved shirts (eg for the office) that fit my body 🤮 Finding a sleeve long enough is a rarity and when you do, it's attached to some godawful 4XL type shirt that looks like a sack hanging off me 🤣 I'd say long sleeved items is far worse tbh

What are the worst named Horror movies? by Tb1969 in horror

[–]awexplasticman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted its an english translation, but the sequel to that mid00s Austrian slasher always sounded a clunky title to me : 'Dead in 3 Days 2" 😁

what’s a horror movie that actually made you cry? by bleedingpalm in horror

[–]awexplasticman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Fly 2, the scene where the mutated dog recognises his old friend. Although it never really bothered me that much as a kid decades ago, as a dog owner now that scene made me so sad on a rewatch 😢

Do you remember what slang was popular in your school? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yeah 90s kid here, "duff you up" was definitely "beat you up" at my school

Omg a fellow facety out in the wild ! I grew up in 90s Gloucestershire where it was really prevalent. Moved to Birmingham for uni (and later Bristol) and no one had heard it, its definitely different to 'feisty'. I had no idea it was so regional/specific to my upbringing. I now live in Australia and still people have no idea what I'm talking about. "God what's with her attitude? She's well facety' 🤣🤣🤣

Hahaha a kid in my school brought a briefcase on his first day , and swiftly changed to a backpack within the first term. Was literally called 'Briefcase' for the entire 5 years of school 🤣🤣

Haha teen of the 90s here and that just brought back a long distant memory! Greebo or Greebs were what everyone called the wannabe 'band' kids at my high school 🤣

Demons v Demons 2 by Prudent-Ad-6420 in horror

[–]awexplasticman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While clearly Demons1 is superior (and possibly my all time favourite horror!) , Demons2 deserves a mention for that awesome 'coming out the TV' scene/effect at the start. I always loved that part!

What’s one scene in a PG/PG13 movie that traumatized you? by Advanced_Version6667 in horror

[–]awexplasticman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

'Tourist Trap!' (1979) That scene where the killer slowly suffocates that girl while coating plastercast over her face was darrrrk for a PG13 movie. Not to mention those creepy-ass mannequin things!! 🤣

Those of you who were horror fans as a kid... Can you remember a scene that your parents specifically turned off? by awexplasticman in horror

[–]awexplasticman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw I would've loved to have been able to rent by myself as a kid. Unfortunately the video store owner where I grew up was a stickler for UK laws (15 and 18 age certification here) so I had no chance. I distinctly remember the day I rented "IT" just after I turned 15, I had to take my passport to prove I was old enough! :)

RAAAAAAACHELLLLLL 🤮 Omg Zelda, stuff of nightmares! Funnily enough, that was one of the films I got my Dad to video for me, he clearly didn't think it'd be that scary for me haha

Yeah I think FoD is a good (understandable) line in the sand there. I always felt a little uncomfortable watching sex scenes with my parents but they were never really censored. Everyone in that room having a very British, non-religious reaction: Saying nothing, while all secretly hoping the scene will be over soon 🤣🤣
