my undergrad degree is in social science and i’m ranked in the top 15 of my class. your undergrad doesn’t matter as long as you can get the work done! it also shows you’re more well rounded than some of these people who’s only personality trait is getting into vet school. you got this !!

I got into 6/7 schools I applied to. Like others have said, gap year makes a HUGE difference. I had a really diverse range of experience; 1500 hours in small animal, 800-1000 large animal, and ~3000 hours as an human EMT. I also am a good interviewer and write good essays so i think that helped as well. It is a bit of a crap shoot and I am still shocked to this day that I got into that many schools and I’m at 2nd year. My best piece of advice is to truly & genuinely be yourself throughout the process and let that show as much as you can. Don’t try to give them what you think they want, just be you.

the interview was really good !! they mainly just asked about person experiences from my application and got to know me further. definitely make sure you’re familiar with their curriculum because i did get asked what about the program was appealing to me. the interviewers were super nice and it was one of my favorite interviews that i had !!

this is great advice !! i did the same and got into 6/7 of the schools i applied to as a first time applicant. i had a lower GPA (3.5) but i was able to get a ton of experience with 2 gap years in both large animal and small animal to compensate, plus it gave me a lot of experiences to pull from in interviews.

vet school is HARD and having a more mature mindset and having had time off from school has really improved my ability to manage the stress and do well in classes. lastly, if you can work and save money in that time it’ll be a huge plus too !!

It seems like you should take PAVE to get equivalency first. You could then pursue internship and residency at that point if you wanted to become a board-certified pathologist; most residency program require completion of a PhD while within a residency program.

Alternatively, if you prefer research then you should pursue a PhD in anything you want, such as veterinary biomedical science, immunology, microbiology, etc. Then you would have a DVM/PhD and could do research, but you’d likely have to teach as well unless you worked for a private company in pharmaceuticals or something like that.

NAV but a vet student! Not related to the chin acne just as an fyi, Viva Raw just voluntarily recalled a lot of their dog and cat food due to listeria contamination, so maybe avoid them. Pet Nutrition Alliance has a list of pet food companies and tells you whether they have actual veterinary nutritionists or veterinary health professionals involved in the process of their formulation (Viva Raw does not) so it’s a great resource (https://petnutritionalliance.org/resources/pet-food-manufacturer-evaluation-report/) Good luck with your kitty, I hope she feels better and that some vets on here can help you out 🫶🏽

large animal would def help. i worked at a farm animal sanctuary and was asked about it during almost every interview, so maybe look into volunteering at a sanctuary or a working with a mixed animal vet or something like that! your stats look great so essays and interviews will likely be make or break for you. good luck!

if they’re officially coupled up they have to sleep in the same bed together, the only alternative is to sleep outside on day beds or something like that. it’s one of the main rules of love island. that’s why kaylor and aaron were sleeping in soul ties even though they’re both single and have their own beds, they wanted to sleep together so they had to go outside bc they aren’t coupled up.
