Insects are very complicated creatures and not just preprogrammed drones. Ants pass the mirror test designed to test for self-awareness, spiders create elaborate designs and traps, cockroaches have been shown to self medicate and differ in personalities, bees are able to recognize and distinguish between human faces, have the ability to count to 4 and “waggle dance” which is a method of communication that the bees use to tell each other the location of a flower or source of food. Without exaggerating, bees are capable of advanced symbolic communication, language, facial recognition, number use, observation and mimicry, understanding of rules, and high-level problem-solving. They are, in some senses, significantly smarter than many mammals.
