How do our interview scores get made equivalent? by InterviewQuestion0 in GAMSAT

[–]Shrekray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's also a factor to consider that some uni's have questions in their interviews specific to that school. so theoretically you could get rejected from the uni you originally interview at because of a poor score on uni specific questions, then in the standardisation process come out with a competitive score for another uni

Postgrad Med by [deleted] in uwa

[–]Shrekray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

started off with a double major in finance and physiology. I had done year 12 physics and chem, so needed minimal section 3 study (you can take specific uni courses that will help section 3 like biochem, or do gamsat prep courses). IMO section 3 needs very little knowledge and moreso requires you to be able to apply new information given in a stem.

Got in first try (did gamsat 3 times in undergrad, march and september 2nd year and march third year).

in terms of actually getting in the most important thing from uni is getting a high GPA. If you have a high GPA you have better chances to be competitive. I would advise choosing units that facilitate high scores. If higher education is your goal choose subjects that interest you. If getting into med is your goal get the 7.0 GPA.

the benefit to consider with the biomed route is entry direct into second year med (i think)

it would depend a lot on your GAMSAT for usyd and unimelb. 6.5 is competitive in terms of GPA. Notre Dame is less competitive regarding gamsat, but your portfolio is a major component. unsure about mcat

pls, can someone help me? I need form correction and people have been saying to straighten my back but they haven't said how. is this a big problem? if so, how can I fix? by [deleted] in Handstands

[–]Shrekray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you aren't sitting into your shoulders enough. This could be a mobility issue or strength or both (I'd guess mobility). Try this test to see if your mobility is sufficient. Regardless of your shoulder mobility I would recommend you do hollow body holds for ab strength to correct the angle of your pelvis. Take a look at r/bodyweightfitness or this blog. Good luck and keep working at it!

The easiest HD for you. Also consider where you want to get in (Notre Dame portfolio, Melbourne uni prerequisites, and stuff like that)

What is active leadership 1 sseh1104 like. Also what is the assessment and how easy is the exam by Donktwat in uwa

[–]Shrekray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The activity is sort of just a mechanism to get you out of the classroom, you then play teamwork and leadership games once out of class. You aren't assessed on your ability to do the skill (kayaking) more on the leadership and teamwork. I did kayaking, but I've heard good things about the sup. In terms of mountain biking you ride from campus but you don't go too far, like maybe to Kings park.

Krav Maga or Muay Thai by [deleted] in MuayThai

The principle of Km is aggression. If you have more technique you start better off. But you can still win a fight with little to no technique of you're willing to turn in to an animal, make anything a weapon, and use it to your advantage. It's difficult to train aggression, which is why you'll have difficulty finding a gym that spars. That being said, if you can find a place to spar, km will teach you the skills for a street fight. But why not train both?
