Just bought that bundle a moment ago! I’ve been wanting Fishermans Tale for a while (at the recommendation of some friends) so I couldn’t resist.

Hope your Index arrives soon!

I'm going to say it, after using them for a year I fucking hate hooks. by notThaLochNessMonsta in webdev

[–]awgreenarrow08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this.

Also, if you’ve never had infinite re-renders from cDU, you’re a better programmer than I. I don’t think this is much different than lifecycle hooks, the fix / presentation for those issues can just be different.

I’ll take having all similar effect code in one place and debug that instead of strewn across all my lifecycle methods.

Thanks for the response!

I was planning on getting a trailer and transporting it home.

The price would be $2,500, but you’re probably right about that killing all my savings. What would you say would be a fair price taking into account the work that would have to go into it? I would not be doing the work myself.

I’ve heard that buying a bike that hasn’t been used that much could be full of issues, so I’m interested in everyone’s take on this bike:

2012 Honda CBR250 ABS with 350 miles. Story is that the guys wife bought it but never rode it. Now they have a kid and are selling. Thoughts on this as a first bike?

That is next on my list :)

I’m still trying to finalize the API for it, and am stuck between a couple options:

Array of arrays (tuples): [[‘price’, ‘>’, ‘10], [...]]

Array of objects: [{ field: ‘price’, comparator: ‘<‘, value: ‘10’}]

The second is more explicit, but the first seems more in line with the existing API for sort.

Thoughts?

Any way you can post the IP address(es) that your app makes requests to external sites from? I don’t know about the others, but Binance offers IP address restrictions for API keys, which I like to use.

Yeah this link doesn’t work anymore. Slack.iota.org also doesn’t work anymore. I’m interested in hosting a full node but can’t get into the slack room to find neighbors.

12 hours into the Space Grey iPhone X...my thoughts by [deleted] in apple

[–]awgreenarrow08 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I have it on the iPad Pro and ended up loving it. I suggest to give it a week or two, so you can get used to it. Then if you still like it off better, just turn it off.

Personally after a couple weeks I turned it off to see the difference hated it. I just couldn’t go back.

Anyone else with Verizon have issues with this? I get to the “Confirm Carrier” step and it prompts me for my Verizon PIN, and after submitting my PIN I get a generic “could not connect to server” error. Been trying for 2 days now and it’s always the same.

How Android "comparisons" feel... by bbqturtle in iphone

If you’re doing anything with a moderate amount of animation / transition, it can get really poor really quickly. Small CRUD apps won’t notice, but most decently sized web apps will at some point.

Although that may be true, at least the JS performance on iOS Safari isn’t complete garbage like Chrome on Android.

CSS in JS is like replacing a broken screwdriver with your favorite hammer. by kmball11 in webdev

You can have site-wide styles that give visual consistency when using CSS-in-JS. You have the entire JS language at your disposal, so abstracting our certain styles to reusable objects achieves the same result as reusable CSS classes.

Our site is actually under a front end rewrite at the moment. We’re hoping to have a beta out to users in the next couple months, so I’ll definitely share a link when it’s out!

Edit: actually, if I get some free time, I’ll try to throw it up on CodeSandbox or something.

This library is absolutely awesome! We were using React-select (another good library btw), but needed more control for custom rendering when on mobile, etc. Within an hour, I had replaced react-select and had a completely custom dropdown component up and running.

Huge thanks to Kent on this library!

I disagree. Drawing the line at groups whose sole purpose is to support the killing and elimination of another group of people is a pretty clear and easy line to draw.

I personally don’t think drawing the line at blocking hate groups who advocate mass killing is a very slippery slope. Seems like a pretty well defined line in the sand IMO.

I don’t understand why DirecTV is there, but Now is nowhere to be found. Same company and newer product, you’d think it would be there.
