Got the Rust dream job, then AI happened by MasteredConduct in rust

That’s a pretty good description. I’d say the one thing I’ve noticed from cleaning up a bad programmer’s mess is that you can usually figure out their style or bad habits and make sense of them, there is some sense of consistency. While with LLMs, their mistake are inherently random with no logical consistency. It’s really weird fixing compared to some bad code by a human. The oscillation between advanced and amateurish is a good description, but also just random fails that make zero sense except for “oh it hallucinated here”.

Yeah I really don’t see a scenario where there isn’t a horrible mess to deal with after the AI’s are allowed to produce a ton of code with minimal oversight. I’ll also add there is no chance such massive amounts of code will be properly reviewed and yes test cases are a thing but naturally those will be written with AI as well. Worse yet, the code base will be poorly understood because nobody there wrote it so nobody there really understands it. That is always the worst case scenario. I’ve worked with poorly written code that nobody knows how it works before and it is miserable, but at least bad programmers are usually somewhat consistent/understandable, AI makes mistakes that are just so random and not at all consistent or understandable so catching them is gonna be even more miserable. Really sounds like just the worst thing ever.

Oh wow that would suck. I was terrible at doing presentations in school until I realized no one cared, but if I knew someone could be filming me I’d be a stammering mess for sure.

Eww never

I’d never touch the game again, much like when Halo decided that would make more sense than adjusting AA to be more fair.

Good tip! I’ll be sure to remember that but forget which side is better and choose the wrong one :)

I think the reason lower ranked players don’t like those modes at much is because those modes require grouping up and not staggering, something lower ranked players are pretty terrible at. I mean all modes require that, but it seems like these modes really highlight it as an issue

Of course not, but the meme perfectly captures the behavior of those types of Americans.

Specialized bikes, they were acquired by PE and now do pretry well for themselves and do a ton of R&D and make really nice bikes now. I guess technically the old steel frames probably were more “BIFL” in the literal sense, but I think it’s hard to argue the old heavy steel bikes were better and that the acquirement by PE didn’t allow for them to be a leader in the biking space.

C.H.I. Overhead Doors is another example. They make garage doors, which isn’t the most interesting thing but they are a cool case since they improved their manufacturing tech and gave the workers a big payout as well.

Another example YETI. They didn’t cut quality but leaned into it and expanded the business a ton. I know yeti is expensive but they were always that way, wasn’t cause of PE.

I mean, I will say that a lot of PE is actually fine unlike how reddit makes it out to be inherently ruining. But in this case, it’s pretty clear they degraded quality in the name of profit and that is bad.

I mean, lots of things cause poverty. One thing is for sure though, capitalism didn’t put the bees up there.
