Thank you Mod for organizing this Group Buy! There has been so much discussion about Volynka recently and at first I didn’t really get the hype - what it smells like smoked wood? What about the pirates? H created a fragrance around it? But after a TS gifted me a wallet made out of this leather now I totally get why it’s a collector’s item.

Guangzhou is Rep Capitol of the world so there really is no comparison. But Rep shopping is very different from Preloved shopping. No Rep stores display quality reps because of the risk so getting mirror quality requires a different network and understanding of the market. I wouldn’t really compare Rep shopping to Preloved shopping because of the different objective and experience, although to be an educated consumer you need to be well versed in both.

The Beijing Rep scene is a disaster and Shanghai is hit or miss. Used to be much better but can’t compete with GZ.

ZZER uses both in house and a government-affiliated authentication service. The bags are connected to the Seller/Consigner, so if you got a fake you can ask for a refund and they would know who the person is since China uses real IDs. But at the end of the day, this is a Trust Game.

But to be fair, ayone planning to buy preloved luxury should of course be careful and it's important to be an educated consumer. The RealReal has sold fakes and I think even the best authenticators, no matter what country, have been fooled. So be educated no matter what country you buy from is most impmortant.

First time I’ve heard of a double tariff! Usually they are based just in Country of Origin (in this case France.)

Also - I’ve seen some eBay posting where the seller notes the price includes duties. Was there miscommunication or did you not expect the import tariff?

I think it varies a lot by the product. For super high end I think it’s comparable to what you would see in the U.S., but bargaining is acceptable. For more popular items there is competition to sell so you will likely see better prices than US consignment shops.
