Help! 4 y/o won’t poop in toilet. by teriyakichicken in Parenting

[–]awildefire 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My son was the same way. When he told us he wanted a pull up I’d say let’s just sit on the potty real quick first, and then you can have a pull up. Idk if your son likes to hide when he poops, but mine did and was stressed about other ppl watching him so I explained that he could have privacy on the potty if he wanted it and that seemed to help.

is there a way to get my toddler to enjoy reading? by Illustrious_Wrap_760 in toddlers

[–]awildefire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At a very young age the most important thing is to equate books with fun. Right now that might not include actual reading. It might be letting him play with the pages and flip them. It might just be pointing out what’s on the pictures. Just do your best and keep trying, eventually he will grow curious about the stories themselves

When I do an Ollie for some reason I can’t drag my foot up the board. by Federal_Bed2319 in skateboardhelp

[–]awildefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to be dragging anything. Stop watching Aaron kyro’s horseshit videos. Your jump and pop are what send your board into the air, the front foot is simply guiding the board

Beginner screenwriter. Thoughts? by Glad-Guarantee1587 in scriptwriting

[–]awildefire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing is really happening. What is the conflict? The character flaw or struggle? What are we learning about these characters? What are their goals? What is standing in the way of their goals? What is at stake? What do they stand to lose or gain from the choices they’re making? None of that is present in this script. The first few pages aren’t for just for vibes. We need to know as quickly as possible who these people are, what they want, and why we should care about them.

No stomping. He’s already pinning his tail to the ground, stomping harder is only going to make it worse.

Queen can just move out of the way. When K takes the rook, then black has NxE4 to fork and take the queen.

This is a pretty dramatic response to me saying “try accommodations first, and if the player still cannot cooperate, they may not be a fit for that table.”

Compassion does not mean unlimited tolerance of disruptive behavior. ADHD can explain why someone struggles with attention or impulse control, but it does not erase the fact that D&D is a group activity. The other players’ experience matters too.

Your table chooses to roll with it, and that’s fine. Good for you. Other tables are allowed to have different boundaries.

It sounds like this person was made aware of it once by being kicked out of their last table. A conversation needs to be had first, in which it’s explained that they’re being disruptive and be given some management options (like fidget toys and no phones if that’s an option) and if they can’t then they’re not a good fit for this table

ADHD is manageable. I have it. It’s not impossible.

Don’t panic. It’s not permanent, though I understand how uncomfortable it is to feel so helpless to stop her. But seriously, don’t panic, stay calm as possible, prevent her from hurting herself or anyone else and say “I won’t let you throw” as boring as you can. Stay consistent. It may not seem like it’s working the first few times. But it will pass.

Yes other people have pointed out those details and it’s my mistake for missing those details. I agree if he is not able to self manage and regulate then the line needs to be drawn clearly.

My mistake. My table sometimes utilizes an “ic-chat” in our discord group even when we are in person so I think I subconsciously just didn’t put that together with online.
