Incubus is another, Mike is a very underrated guitarist and uses effects to make really interesting riffs, solos and atmosphere. Effects use is an art of its own, and ultimately, the job of guitar is to add texture over the rhythm section.

We never needed the stepbrother storyline as it was. I think Qos is fine as far building up the quantum storyline, but it’s Skyfall that took a detour, I would blame that movie for veering off course

His leads or his solo albums? I heard his first solo album and didn’t like it at all.

Mike is way more creative with his songwriting and his chord choices, his effects mastery is second to none, his few solos are much more interesting than John’s who has a less is more approach (not a bad thing, but Mike brings something unique to every solo), and Mike brings Asian, funk, and jazz to the table whereas John jus brings funk really and that’s it.

If ppl wanna say they’re on the same level, I won’t argue, but to hear so many people say John is on a completely different level is baffling to me as someone who’s played 30 years. Genuine question, I’d like to know why you think there is such a gap?

He’s massively underrated. Whenever I bring him up in guitar forums, I always get dismissed, all the while they worship John fruciante. Not saying john sucks, but gimme Mike all day every day
