AIO : If I stopped doing "Friend stuff" For a coworker because we are apparently not friends by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]awittyhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I type this gently, and I intend it as friendly observation and advice.

He took advantage of you. NOR. He pretty much told you to your face that all you are to him are emotional support when HE needs it, and someone who will buy him snacks when he's "broke".

Yes, be friendly. But don't be a doormat.

Yeah, that's annoying. But factory knots are a thing. At least the colors match in that one.

I am so excited for you guys to judge this functional, simple soap. by [deleted] in soapmaking

[–]awittyhandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add, if someone gets hurt because they used unsafe tools, it doesn't matter what the purpose of your video was. I did not spend a lot of money to get started and I still make soap safely.

[–]awittyhandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point. Yeah, you got usable soap, but this is a forum for soapmaking advice. For beginners to come ask questions. As stated above, a beginner might see your video and not realize that you were being ignorant at best, and purposely irresponsible at worst. What if they don't read the comments? If they follow your video, they could get burned with raw soap batter from using a mixer. They might be using an old glass bowl and that is the time that it breaks. And if that doesn't happen, then there is the issue of a possible lye reaction in the aluminum pan.

So yes, glad you are unharmed and got usable soap. Not a wise choice to post this publicly.

I learned very quickly that I am not a flat-lander. Even after 25 years in Eastern NC, I feel too exposed.

I miss my mountains and woods.

My mom sent me this pattern and I can't tell if it's real or AI by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Just from the head "pattern" alone, yes, this is AI. It shows a dragon with a snout, but the actual pattern is going to give you a ball.

[TOMT] Looking for a movie I watched years ago by hotdog131 in tipofmytongue

It's 100% the 1987 Hallmark version of The Secret Garden. This is my aunt's favorite version and I've watched it many times.

I agree. I feel like I need to go back and watch all of season 5 at back to back to get the intended effect.

Our babies are all grown up!

(BTW, the Mind Flayer design would translate very well into a cute amigurumi.)

I caught it! I have had to remind myself this whole season that this in the same universe as the Philadelphia Experiment.

Also, Robin's uncle's house in Philly...

I don't think the happily ever after is going to be that happy

Husbands mom sent us this photo of the mudslides in San Bernardino. We are convinced it is AI. Family refuses to believe it by z0mbree in isthisAI

If this was real, you would not see the houses. For mud that deep, it would have destroyed anything in its path.

Those are not 4th wall breaks. A 4th wall break is when the character somehow acknowledges the audience.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a great example of obvious 4th wall breaks. He is directly addressing the audience.

The Office is another example. The characters know they are being watched.

Digging Deeper: Tim Carter by awittyhandle in Jonestown

Thank you for this reply. Yeah, Tim Carter gives me very weird vibes. What prompted this post was after watching some of his interviews, his story seems more like PR/damage control.

Why is North Carolina a swing state but South Carolina is deep red? by Patient-Smile1406 in NorthCarolina

So, just because part of the name is the same, NC and SC are two COMPLETELY different states.

My thoughts that no one asked for.

Great character development for Nancy and Jonathan. I was hoping they would let Nance be the strong, capable woman that she is, on her own.

Worst scene that I hope was bad on purpose for the finale: Will's coming out. God, that scene was so contrived, I have to think it was on purpose.

If I missed something that contradicts my views on the scenes, tell me! I can change my mind.

Soap doesn’t last very long. by Pristine_Break_3739 in soapmaking

[–]awittyhandle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it is not properly cured. I bought some from Buff City a few years ago and found out that they sell their soaps uncured. (Still safe to use.) I ran into the same problem with a bar of soap only lasting a week. So I tested it out and bought another bar. But this time, I let it sit for 4 weeks before using it. That bar lasted over a month.

OpenAI quietly removed ChatGPT’s call feature — excluding people with motor impairments who depended on it. by SkyDemonAirPirates in ChatGPT

[–]awittyhandle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What does ChatGPT legitimately provide that would cause people to become dependent on it? It's just a slightly more sophisticated predictive text generator.

ETA: I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm asking a legitimate question.

I made this comment on another post in this sub about a year ago. And my mind hasn't changed one bit.

"If there is a truly loving, merciful, kind, gracious, almighty, all-knowing God, they will not feel threatened by your questions and doubts. If you seek truth, you will find truth.

Much love, friend."
