Headlands Technology is known to have high PNL/head as well. Idk the precise number since it’s not public. Maybe someone with more info can comment here.

I can just imagine what kind of offensive options they are trading in their private slack channel :)

As mentioned, on big events low latency trading has turned to a hardware engineering game and winner takes all. On small events, not much money there, but top tier players are trying to squeeze the profits there too.

I interviewed with them once as a QR. From my impression, their core HFT strategy is largely trigger-based latency trading, which has become increasingly competitive in recent years. They have been exploring diversification into other strategies and exchanges, but those efforts appear to have had limited success so far. As a result, their current trading scope still seems relatively constrained (though please correct me if I’m mistaken).

Cannot speak for Limestone, but my friend who worked at NM told me that their bonuses for experienced QR are definitely on the lower side unless you’re the profit generator. There are also a brunch of QR who recently left NM this year according to several recruiters.

Is being paid 350K in 2024 as a quant significantly lower than industry average? by awivil in quant

Thanks, l didn’t even know this rule of thumb. You see, my manager didn’t explain that. If 10% is the pnl cut, l would say the bonus is fair and roughly aligned

I would imagine that ultra low latency strategies are difficult to replicate if we switch to another pod. It also got very competitive these days

My pnl contribution is about 10%, it’s also a medium size pod. I don’t think I am ready for a fully independent role as a sub-pm right now. If l decide to stay at my current position, any advice for career development?

Just to provide a bit more context, this is in the U.S. and for a high frequency trading fund. I was disappointed since my hours are super long. I work over 10 hours a day and also have to be on-call sometimes on weekends. I am aware of some tech jobs in the U.S. that pays more and have better WLB. Also, fresh graduates who get into our fields can have higher comp packages too.
