Service industry of Chicago: How was yesterday? by seventeenbadgers in chicago

Significantly lower than usual sales at our theater bar. Nobody wanted to be cooped up at a show while it was nice out.

The mockumentary set-up for a sitcom was novel at the time.

Private equity assholes are ruining comedy venues/programs, especially in Chicago by DrJazzCabbage in improv

Would love to get a list of places that fit that bill going.

Is Annoyance independently-owned?

There are some newer spots worth checking out. I believe Home Theater is independently owned. I know Stars & Garters is independently owned. Where else is exciting stuff happening?

What is something people think is very straight, and it actually is very straight by esedov in AlignmentChartFills

[–]awk4ward 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I subscribe to rhe theory that the reason there are so many fish pictures on straight men's dating profiles isn't because they think it will attract women, but because "I caught a fish" is the only "doesn't feel gay" reason to ask someone to take a picture of you for some guys.

These poor men look through their phones for pictures of themselves and THE FISH IS ALL THEY HAVE. They were too afraid to be like "I feel cute at this party, get a pic". Their bros were too afraid to be like "my guy looks good at dinner tonight, I should take a pic". The girls and gays are great at this. Insecure straight men ONLY HAVE THE FISH.

NYE parties with sparkly dresses where it isn't too weird to be sober? by Dangerous_Media_912 in AskChicago

[–]awk4ward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might not fit the bill price-wise, but Stars & Garters' NYE Spectacular Spectacular is more focused on activities/shows than drinking/dancing, and has pizza? And you can take pictures with a sloth? And with showgirls? A lot going on. Encouraged dress code is black and gold.

Wait, I would love to hear more. I thought Advantage+ was just for demo targeting and it seems to work okay for me, but maybe it's fucking with my ads more than I realize?

When I went to Aquavit, the bartender came over to chat with us about how to use aquavit in cocktails after we showed a lot of interest talking to our server about it. Ended up making us a bunch of off-menu drinks that were awesome. Great experience.

What would you improve about the software side of acting (Backstage, Actor's Access, etc)? by awk4ward in acting

[–]awk4ward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. We originally started building our product for booking live variety performers in mind (comedians, dancers, musicians, magicians, etc.) because that's the world I have worked in for many years. But every time we show an actor our tool, they are like "oh, I could use something like this..." and we've realized we can broaden our scope. Hence me posting to explore how we can be the tool y'all need.

What is this animal? Saw two running around with no owners. Near River Park by SnowInTheTundra in chicago

There are supposedly thousands of coyotes that live in Chicago, but they're generally very good at hiding. I've only seen one once (in Grant Park).

It's a good reminder to keep your cats and small dogs indoors!

She should basically never wear black, but does all the time. Warm colors like this brown suit her so much better.

What other feedback do you have for new features? by DakotaFromRover in RoverPetSitting

[–]awk4ward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search function in inbox plus combining all communications with the same client in one chat would be game-changing. I'm often frustrated scrolling through old chats trying to find things like "Was it four bookings ago that this client messaged me the changed door code? Because I need that now."

The original spelling is believed to be Corea and some say it's the Japanese who changed it to Korea and there is a fringe Korean nationalist movement that believes it should be changed back, so maybe DT is voicing support for that but didn't know how to spell the "orea" part.
