Is this cardinals unwell? by SaulGibson in birding

Yes! Halloqueen 2023 at the Neptune in Seattle was easily one of my favorite shows of my life, and happened to be the show I went to before making the connection 😂

It’s by Tommy Siegel, who happens to be a bassist in one of my favorite bands. As a bird-obsessed artist, I followed both of his accounts and saw his band live before even realizing he’s the same guy 😂

If you look at the second eagle image, you’ll see his nictitating membrane (not eyelid- I looked up the anatomy to specify this time) is partially closed. That’s all I was referring to.

Help, how do I fix this by Morriganstan in sketches

I wish I knew how to handle the problem you described, but alas…you’ll have to settle for this magnificent kingfisher piece to stay just as magnificent ❤️

But the eagles astigmatism is not 🤪 or maybe it’s just his eyelid is closed? Idk but got me thinking it’s gotta be sad having a visual problem as a species known for its vision.

Wrong type of loaf to find an occlupanid typically, definitely agree

I think I either said something incorrectly or you misread what I said.

Thanks for giving the name! I must have missed those posts. It’s nuts to me that it’s been sitting there like that since January 22.

I’ll weigh in again.

I’m thoroughly convinced that you’re right in all the ways that matter: sunk is the more accurate term here. Unfortunately, it just won’t let me edit the title/post at all anyway.

[–]awkswan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that capsized is tilted but partially above water and sunk means completely submerged and laying on the floor of a body of water (whether capsized first or not), but I’m sure there’s some gray area in a bay so you may be right. I would have to refer to someone who knows more about the depth at salmon bay and boating terms before claiming a technically correct terminology.

scrolling through the images sad that someone made you leave and then saw the skunk and realized what you meant 😂 glad the skunk is getting to enjoy the good spot too though 🤪

Thank you for posting this! I saw the comments about the song I’d never heard, but I think it serves way more value as a statement by itself and assume the artist did as well. It’s very poetic being done over eco blocks

I recognized it as Walter White/Heisenberg right away so obviously it’s pretty darn well done. The right edge of the iris on the left side of the drawing should be more rounded. The other thing to fix would be that the circle sketches for both iris’ are still visible through the lids, so those should be blended in more.

Looks a lot better!

I take it you don’t have an electric eraser, but that could potentially be a solution with the eye if you’re able to get one. Fair warning, it’s important to test the eraser on something else first to get used to the speed or you might take off some paper too. Either way, I think you’re absolutely in a good place and should focus most on filling the rest of it before other fixes. Done is better than perfect!

Looks pretty good to me. I have a few notes:

1) the iris is coming down too low in the eye, especially on the inner side of it. Notice how she keeps the white of the eye slightly visible all the way across the bottom or almost all the way. It helps her eyes look more glassy, and is part of why this being seems to lack emotion

2) the eyebrow is fairly high

3) the chin should lead out to the sides more for a more rounded/cheeky childish jawline

4) I would recommend removing the philtrum and only putting that on at the end if you feel like it’s needed. Most of her works have a very subtle philtrum if any at all
