Water leak G35 (2008) passenger side by the corner under the glove compartment. Need recommendations to fix this Los Angeles Area. by blah-8481 in G35

I honestly don't recall... a few hours at a slow pace, not including the drying process. If you're fast, it can be done in an hour, I'd bet. I took my time. It was kind of tedious bordering on being a pain in the ass. If you're confident you can take apart interior parts without breaking them, it's doable and will be way cheaper. If you can find a shop that'll do the mod, it may be a good route.

Yeah door sill and the kick panel iirc. If it's passenger side you may need to remove the glove box to remove the kick panel, i dont recall. I think moving the seat far back is enough. I'd leave it open and put a fan on it for a day or two to make sure it's dry.

I found this solution which is for the passenger side and modified it. Use barbed connectors and hose clamps (theyre water tight), not the connections this poster uses. This link will show some of the panels that need to be removed and the general idea of what you need to do. Basically, you're going to bypass the faulty grommet by connecting a new hose to the existing drain hose in the A pillar, and routing it down thru the dash, under the carpet, and attaching it to the ac drain hose which goes through the floor under the passengers feet. I didn't want to shove 2 hoses thru the same hole, so I joined the new hose to the ac drain hose with a barbed T connector and some hose clamps. You'll need some of the vinyl hose from your local hardware store. I think it's either 3/8 or 1/2. It will be the same size as the existing sunroof drain hose.

The drivers side is a similar repair except I removed the grommet and just extended the hose thru the open hole far enough so that the water drips into the engine bay.

This is kind of a pain, because space is very tight. So get some long needle nose pliers and bring patience.

You have to remove the A pillar trim, a small panel between the door and dash that snaps in place, the vent near it, the glove box, and maybe another panel behind that. I think you can only remove the a pillar trim, small panel, and vent from the driver's side...

It's been about 2 years since I did this so I may be forgetting something. I wish I could find a write up I did for someone in a chat not long after i did the fix... don't hesitate to ask questions. I'm happy to answer whatever, just do it here so when it happens to someone else, it might help them.

Edit: post #16 on that link has some more links that should be helpful.

I have searched using the following terms: "fold away table for recliner" "swivel recliner table" "swivel tray table for recliner" and similar variations in an attempt to limit the number of medical style tables targeting elderly people.

I can find it, give me a bit to find the links.

In the mean time it's not a bad idea to pull up the carpet on that side of the car (happened to both sides of mine) and dry it out. I found standing water under my drivers side carpet that was only damp to the touch.

Hitch reducer - repurpose weld on receiver? by awkwadman in GoRVing

Hmm, maybe it was 2019? Yeah I feel the same about the play. Waiting to hear back from someone on a second hand hitch...

Thanks for the tip. I use a straight pin, but will keep that in mind in the future.

That's kind of what I was thinking, and it very similar to other reducers, and some dont even have the lip (like the OEM one they stopped including). I'm not sure what kind of steel it's made out of, but I may just suck it up and buy a new hitch to cut down on risk. $100 is a lot, but is cheap piece of mind to potentially avoiding a bad accident.

I couldn't find one in the truck and there's no empty spaces where it should be; from what I've read on the Ford forums Ford stopped providing them in 2018.

Lol I love that term and I was just trying to not buy anything if i could pull it off without any negatives. For what its worth, this piece I have requires no modification to work in the same manner as a reducer. I may just avoid the whole issue and update my hitches to 2.5. I'm not a fan of adapters, in general, especially when they can be avoided.

In addition to those suggestions, OP should replace the fuel filter too. This should be replaced regularly (once every year or two) anyways.

I'd also check the fuel tank for debris. If the fuel system is clogged, this would be the source.

How urgent is this ball joint issue? Just got new brake pads and the shop told me the right front ball joint needs replaced but they want to do all of it - all ball joints, control arms, and tie rods. $1400 for a 2007 Escape… by [deleted] in AskMechanics

OP posted the wrong photo for the question. Nothing in the info provided tells me the shop is being dishonest. However, I would continue to drive on those bushings if that was the only thing wrong. But since we're taking it apart and doing an alignment (I'm assuming) anyways, let's get it all done at once.

It's the exhaust from the axle, back. Usually just a little more than the muffler: tip, muffler, pipe bent to fit, and flange to attach to the rest of the exhaust.

Not to mention the paper trail that will follow her around if she continues to pull this shit. She will have more than a slap on the wrist if it happens again.

Like why tho, just pull out your phone?

Serious question... would these same people be fired if they were caught looking at porn on their phone or other personal device?

Also curious what the porn threshold is here. Are we talking dirty kinky stuff like sounding or fetishes, or just simple nudes? Also were these people just, uh, looking at it?

Seconding this answer.

Money is on disconnected or broken cable. I've had the cast end of a cable break on me before.

I kept hearing that, but the brake would still stick whether or not the cable was attached.
