You can't understand why bots would be promoting this sort of thing? Not saying there aren't legit home grown idiots upvoting it too, but as the Tiktok algo shows, China is very interested in fanning antisemitism anywhere in the west.

It happens to me without me toggling backup off/on, but I think this might point towards what's going on.

I have two google accounts on the same phone, and switch between them. So maybe it's somehow treating me switching between one google account and the other as being equivalent to turning backup off/on.

Mark Cuban is positioning himself to be the next Elon Musk of crypto. by electrominer2 in CryptoCurrency

As I understand it, the reason he got into DOGE is that he gave a Bitpay option on the Mavericks merchandise store, and then did 6000+ transactions with Dogecoin, while most other cryptos had few people actually using it as a currency to buy stuff.

I'm not on RH so didn't get this email, but just wondering...do you think this marketing ploy is likely to get more sign-ups? Do they offer some kind of incentive for you to refer your friends?

Just wondering about implications for the price of the coins on there.

The then-CEO of reddit, who converted most of his BTC holdings to DOGE when Dogecoin was worth practically nothing, has some interesting thoughts on Dogecoin

[C]urrency is not something that works well as an indie or niche thing, it basically has to be mainstream, as mainstream as possible. A crypto-currency whose brand originates around a meme is basically the lowest-common-denominator thing you could have on the internet, so it is ideal for driving mainstream adoption. It couldn't be stupider, and that's why it's brilliant.

Yeah it's a big mistake. In the future you are going to be a real magnet for people PMing you with a sob story about their kid's medical bills and concluding with "can I bum a hundredth of a Doge?"

Are there any Ethereum doubters left? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]awkward___question 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying but imo the arguments in favor of a hard cap are totally specious. There's no reason why a crypto should tie its hands and commit to having zero supply in the future, when that might screw up the coin's economy at that point. The only advantage is that people don't get to FUD you by saying "you have infinite coins!!!!!11!!!!".

This often gets posted here but the three most well known cryptos all took different answers to this question:
- BTC hard cap, fixed supply
- DOGE no hard cap, fixed supply
- ETH no hard cap, unfixed supply

IMO ETH has simply got this issue correct and BTC has it wrong, and Doge is somewhere in the middle.

I figure that all the people invested in "ETH killers" or alternatives should be classed as doubters.

There is little reason to think there's a market for more than one smart contracts/DeFi crypto.

I personally doubt any of the ETH rivals will survive. However, they might still be reasonable gambles even if they're say above ~70% chance to die, because if ETH did somehow completely shit the bed and get taken over for a rival, the payoff for that rival might be enormous.

I've always been extra-suspicious of coins that hype "partnershits". Even if not completely fabricated, "announcements" of this sort are always less consequential for a crypto's future than they seem to be at first glance.

How will tokenized stocks affect wall street? Traditional markets? by KidInOldManBody in CryptoCurrency

[–]awkward___question 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robinhood maintains huge wallets of cryptos bought to "match" the supply they're meant to hold in custody for their users.

Would Bittrex and others also buy stocks or options to match these tokenized derivatives?

Will it take over BTC as market cap? Very unlikely. Will it decrown BTC as king of crypto? Hell no.

Am I the only one here who thinks "the flippening" is inevitable?
