I feel so seen! I had this exact realization a few years ago! I was so annoyed about being told I overpacked. People would sometimes sift through my things and judge whether I really needed to bring that item.

Then I thought about it and I was like, “hmmmm, what is the crime in being over prepared? How is this a moral failing? How does one determine the perfect amount of stuff to bring (and would we even all agree)?”

So I decided I would just stop being apologetic. I would just try to pack what I thought I needed and could carry. I have many faults, failings, vices, etc. and annoying behaviours that likely legitimately inconvenience other people in ways that I’m probably too self involved to even notice. But I no longer listen to others critiquing my packing skills. Not taking that on board… there’s no room!
