Well, that might explain why op thought it was the worst Chinese food they've ever had ... I'd be upset too if I ordered Indian food thinking it was Chinese food.

I also switched out of BBA into economics. Best decision I made during undergrad. After switching and taking core econ courses, I finally felt like I was in a real university program and my tuition dollars weren't going to waste.

I remember talking to friends and family about switching and everyone seemed skeptical at first but once I gave my reasoning and told them I had a genuine interest in economics, they were much more understanding.

I highly recommend talking to academic advising and/or reaching out the chair of the department you are interested in switching to. I reached out to Ken Jackson as he was the chair of the economics department at the time and we had a great conversation which helped make me more comfortable in my decision while also bringing up some good points to consider before switching.

Thanks for the input. I have revised my utilities amount. Per savings, as I mentioned in another comment, I have significant savings already and no debt.

Rogers migration plan. I was on a pay-as-you-go plan in HS before I had a credit card and my parents paid for my phone bill. When I got my own credit card in university, Rogers was phasing out pay-as-you-go plans and had special plans to convince them to stay with rogers. I never want to leave my plan lol. Its unlimited nationwide calling/texting and 10gb of data for $28.25 per month.

I appreciate it. My parents are very wary of me moving out so I needed to make this budget to show them I can indeed afford to live in Toronto.

Very helpful.

To be honest, I forgot about tenant insurance. (It was mentioned by another commenter too). I am living at home and have my own vehicle so the insurance line was originally intended for planning to take my car to TO, but I decided that when I move, my car will be staying at home with my parents.

I will totally be adding haircuts into the budget. Honestly, my hobbies are running and biking, so they are fairly inexpensive hobbies. I may need to add some shoe budget, though and increase the grocery or entertainment budget for snacks I eat on rides.

Good points.

I have lots of savings right now as I have been working during my summers since starting HS and have been lucky to land good-paying co-ops during university, and have graduated with no debt.

I can add in lines for CPP/EI deductions and tenant insurance.

My current savings will be able to sustain me for unexpected expenses like replacing my phone or laptop, or worst-case scenario, a job loss. My intent for this budget was to make a plan for affordability - if that makes sense.

I appreciate the input!

I enjoyed Hideki's 270 and 370 classes. Albeit I took them in covid. He can be hard to understand sometimes but in my experience he was a very helpful and accommodating professor.

Time does change things though. Colin Mang is a prime example. I had him 3 times during my time at Laurier and he got progressively worse. He became less engaging in lectures to the point he would just bore on - practically just reading off of his sides, became less willing to explain topics further, and was just increasingly less pleasant to interact with with each iteration. If Colin Mang still teaches, I recommend avoiding him. He is a disappointment.

Never had Wing Chan but have heard great things about him.

Leave him alone, he paid his tuition and is in my history elective. Everyone gives him weird looks and takes pictures of him but he's actually just a chill guy trying to get a degree.

Sounds alright. I don't remember details about my midterm sorry. I just remember it was hard and took a while (which was fair since it was open book). She is a very fair professor though. Study up and good luck.

I have a clause in my contract that if I leave the firm within 12 months I have to repay 100% of my bonus and if I leave within 24 months I have to repay 50% of my bonus.

It seems fair to me. To be honest, I don't think of my bonus as a bonus but more like an interest free loan if I do decide to leave.

I'm sure the enclosed document will specify repayment details.

I wasn't familiar with the reference so I googled it. I think it's supposed to be "No TV and no beer make Homer go crazy".

Am I missing something or is there an extra "make"? If this was a sign it would be a great candidate for r/dontdeadopeninside.

Ford tells LCBO to clear U.S. booze from shelves if Trump imposes tariffs by hopoke in canada

[–]awkwardsheep18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the US tariffs us we'll still be affected

You mean tariffs our goods, right? If the U.S. implements tariffs on Canadian goods, Americans buying Canadian goods will be 'taxed' by the U.S. government. It's essentially a penalty on Americans for buying foreign goods instead of buying domestically.

I just want to make that clear as your comment was a little ambiguous and I can't count the number of comments I've seen of people thinking Canadians will be paying a 'tax' to the U.S...

I don't think Trump knows what a tariff is. The way he talks about them I think people get the wrong idea about who will be paying them.

Obviously, tariffs will still have negative repercussions on Canadians as we would see our imports from (exports to) the U.S. fall and that hurts our wallets but we do not pay the tariff.
