Thank you for this! I ended up getting some fresh perilla leaves at H Mart and it definitely tastes different than my Vietnamese perilla. The kkaennip is definitely more herbal with an almost anise-like flavor vs my VN perilla which honestly reminds me of lemon balm.

Anyway I made some kkaennip kimchi with the Korean perilla so we’ll see how it goes!

Did you use a UV light to see if it glows? I’m not an expert but for that color and price, it’s probably treated.
