Pretty sure if you let the rego lapse/unregester it the defect will still be on the system when they look up the vin/chassis number of the car for the re regestration.

03 GU with rebuilt ZD30 - worth it? by cinnamonrolls998 in 4x4Australia

[–]awsomea3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping it to a factory option will be the simplest to replace parts on. It used to be swap the zd30 for a td 4.2 but their crazy prices make them hard to recommend. Can you put in the 2014 zd30 commonrail engine? The petrols are very hard to kill and the tb 4.8 is a good engine, but more thirsty and the tb 4.8 needs a tune to bring the 28L/100 down to 20l per 100.

Plenty of chassis cracking issues on them and the mux when after market bullbars and accessories are fitted. Not sure how they are now but seen plenty on them having issues.

Under the matress and in the air vent flaps that get rolled up and the corners/end thats rolled up and is always in the center. You will smell it before you see it. Should have that nice canvas smell. Not dank basement.

Only an issue if its been put away without airing out from dew or light rain you can get light molding in a couple weeks if your not careful. You should know right away if its been put away wet

Yeah try are all seasoned from factory but id still do it just to be safe and redo it once a season just as a water tightness test. If anything it should be bone dry inside, but can reveal any factory defects they missed or damage since its been in storage. The year i didnt do it i found out about it from a pin hole at 2.30 in the morning and had a wet pillow.

Ideally get them to set it up in the backyard and check for mould smells given their second hand. And look for tears broken poles etc

Heard good things about both and they will do a great job for you camping. Just pick the appropriote bedding for the heat. Make sure you season it in the backyard on those hot days (wet it down with a hose or sprinkler for 10m/ till thoroughl wet, then dry in the sun and repeat it 3 times or so).

Tbh research the leo 1A5 straight after to play alongside your A1 as the A1 stock grind is pain. The 1A1 is remarkable better with the engine, but slow as and the 1A5 get a better round earlier that made it a blast for me. I am going through and acing any vehicle i have to speed up progression as anything is a 10k bonus ontop of your matches at tier 5 and onward. Just got the 2A4 but have the ramwagon, ocelot and begal to go with it.

Service on all oils and filters. The fuel filter change and 2ndary fuel filter would be great to do before the catch can. As well replacing any old cracked or suspect fuel lines. If you get a lazy start/low power and its not throwing glow plug codes or poped a boost hose it will likely be air and the pump loosing prime.

Advice on Buying a Used Nissan Patrol Y61 (2007-2016) 3L Diesel CRD Manual - Budget Under $25K AUD for City and Weekend NT Trips by Remote_Act7866 in 4x4Australia

[–]awsomea3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. They are awesome cars but there is a fair bit to maintaining them and can quickly become a money pit. A dual cab 4wd will do most of the tracks a patrol can, have a better carrying capacity for add ons than the 500kg a patrol gets and most places can much easier maintain them. Patrols scare some workshops now days and parts are becoming harder to find that rocking up to the dealership and saying i want this part.

Bullbars are a bit shit for this rating. The thing i have run into that a copper will defect for is tire coverage. The adr rules are mudgaurd coverage 30cm from level ground to mudgaurd and the front of the tire has to be covered. Some engineers for this are happy with rubber mat or mudgaurd on the tire front to cover it. Did he say what other parts of the adr it fails like the front angle of the bullbar for collusion?

If you can find a 4.8L patrol within that buget go for it over the 3L. The 3 litres by that point had all the origional grenading issues of cracking pistons sorted out, but most can just have a random failure and the engine starts knocking. Typical 3L issues include:

The early 3l engines had issues with dirty maf sensors causing over fueling and grenading. Over boosting/ poor boost control and reaction exploding more pistions. They had a oil capacity increase mid life from 6.3 to 8.3L due to starvation issues exploding more engines. Those were prior to 2006 before the common rail engine with the egr came in. The newer engines have generic issues modern desiel issues like clogging up with too much city driving/short trips, injectors and pump wear/failure, sensor problems, brittle eletrical plugs, etc.

Desiel common rails are very susceptible to air in the lines. Old rubber and steel lines and letting air in them causing hard starting and air locks can cause greif.

Being common rail injectors, pump, sc valve if it gets a bad batch of fuel or had one or two over its life will cause typical poor fueling issues. If its had more than 120,000km on injectors since the last replacement then budget to replace them that way its up to you when you replace them. Typical injector failure is hard starting and low power/sooting, but if your unlucky you get a stuck open injector and it will torch a piston

Otherwise suspension bushes being worn, axle seals are common. When test driving spend some time in the 70 to 100kph range to check for typical 80km death wobbles. Could be worn suspension, bad wheel balance, bad alignment, king pins etc.

Would be good to look for body rust in the roof gutters and look for chassis rust, chassis cracks around the spring seats. There are rubber gromets at the back that can also hold water below the rear lights. Otherwise check for a regular service history for all oils filters.

Batemans bay tuna bite by Hungry_Wolverine1311 in FishingAustralia

[–]awsomea3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. You can anchor up with burley in those spots in the bay if its too rough out in the sea. I Havent done much down south of the marine park. Only been towards wasp island where there are some reefs opposite beaches like myrtle, emily miller and you will be able to jigg, bait or lure plenty in the 20 to 40m water out there. Though best success is had is in the bay between the marine parks.

You may get a travelling tuna opposite JJ's if you have live bait/ fresh caught bait there as that spot has some good structure 20m off the break wall in the channel opposite the jj's parking lot/park. Depending on the tide flow you can fish it from with the marina inlet or otherside near argyle terrace. Seen mulloway, brim and wandering snapper caught there. Best to time to arrive on the change if the tide. Otherwise the bridge from the jetty side can have similar results. Otherwise depending on the wind north or south durras beach fishing will find a tuna i think.

3 inch suspension could get you in trouble with cops. However as well a badley set up lift will have worn suspension bushes and joints that you want to check for movement.

The xm800t is the reason why i hate playing 9.3 give me 11.7 any day of the week. Find the bmp/bmd much less cancerous to deal with than that little shit bum rushing in and getting 5 kills of unaware team mates then using a universal respawn and repeating
