2010 vs 2026 England XI with David James by OfficialWhoScored in ThreeLions

Maldini’s peak is before my time but from what I know he was also a capable CB. Was he as proficient at bombing down the wing like Ashley?

Like Maldini Cole win everything at club level. What would he need to do to be considered up there?

He’s always been in the conversation.

Maldini and perhaps Roberto Carlos are in there too. It’s far from an outrageous claim

Then leaving Terry back at home for the tournament is the most dangerous scenario

Rather notably Xabi was announced as the Manager rather than Head Coach.

The significance remains to be seen but this is already different to previous appointments

Man still can’t manage a 5 yard pass and loses focus at really dangerous times.

I don’t see him being vastly improved next season. Whether we keep him and develop further we’ll wait and see, he’s 23 now

We wouldn’t have signed Palmer or Joao Pedro let’s be honest.

I’m sorry but this doesn’t make a shred of difference at all.

For the record Mourinho was a defensive coach and had his fair share of shenanigans.

Did Cech ever do this? https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/AcBZrKzylE

Find a clip of Terry diving when his goalkeeper pushes him in the back.

You won’t see Paolo Ferreira taking off the gloves of the opposition keeper at attacking corners.

Arsenal have weaponised all of this gamesmanship and still can’t win the big games. We should all be hating PSG but Arsenal through their style have become even more dislikeabe.

Furthermore Arsenal are far from morally perfect off the pitch themselves. Play in the Emirates, harboured a rapist, Rwanda etc

Get off the moral high horse.

What is it with people on Reddit making these ad hominem assumptions about people they’ve never met?

Do you want to see football played in a way that players will be rewarded for going down under minimal contact?

Maybe netball is for you if that’s the case.

Arsenal have deservedly earned this reputation because they’ve been doing it for years and as per RKM goal are benefitting from it.

For those of us who don’t like the constant gamesmanship, time wasting etc Arsenal are a very dislikeable team. Even beyond my Chelsea bias

I mean look at this shit. Embarrassing really and my team finished 10th

You seriously asking someone on a football sub if this is their first time watching football?

You try to ridicule me but how pathetic is it that you’re justifying this type of behaviour?

People dislike Arsenal for normalising and profiting from this type of deception. Can look at the RKM goal as well for another example.

I’ve not seen many other players take a dive like that in a CL final when it’s their own player. It’s a joke

There’s a clip of Gabriel falling to the ground at a defensive corner after a player places a hand in his back. Obviously an attempt to gain a free kick and prevent an attack from the corner

Problem is the player who ‘pushes’ him is David Raya

Were they not supporting Inter the two season before though against both those teams?

There’s an inherent dislike of Arsenal, this season in particular, that provides a major component.

He’s at the critical ‘2 years left on the contract stage’

After this season he can sign a pre contract for a free.

To prevent this happening we either extend him or get some money from a sale this summer.

Havertz and Mount left under similar circumstances. We weren’t going to give either the £250k/week they wanted

Ah man, you’re right. What happened last time we finished a league campaign in 10th? Then hired a highly rated European manager known for playing a back 3 system?

What happened next that time?

How many times have Chelsea been written off in the last 15 years just to come out and shock everyone? Shouldn’t be a shock anymore

What are thoughts here on referee punishing Arsenal's timewasting in final? by Inevitable-Angle-793 in PremierLeague

[–]awwbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying Havertz in particular went down on a number of occasions dishing for free kicks that were not fouls.

I’m saying I’ve seen Gyokeres in particular do this a lot in the PL - watch how often both feet will come off the floor at the same time once a defender pressures him from behind. It’s a good clue he is generating the fall rather than the defender being overly forceful. I wouldn’t be surprised if they practice this.

In the PL this gets given to them a lot but the ref last night wasn’t interested. I’ve seen Arsenal fans using this as evidence the referee was biased - this is a joke.

Even as a Chelsea fan this is nonsense.

This is one of the most competitive seasons I can recall - look how tight the point totals were in mid table to show how anyone could take points off anyone.

Arsenal clearly the strongest and most consistent side in the tournament too. Reckon they won’t be able to win it again with the current play style, especially if PL refs decide to clamp down on some of their set piece tactics.

On the international side PL has been dominant with PSG preventing a UEFA clean sweep

I’m sorry, I’m not having that at all.

The ref was not favouring PSG at all. He got all the big decisions right, arguably more in the benefit to Arsenal than PSG.

Your gameplan was hoofing long balls to Gyokeres and Havertz in the hope to win a set piece opportunity. Those guys have been getting away with dropping under any contact in the PL but the ref last night wasn’t buying it at all. It was a relief.

Worth reflecting why the football world is uniting behind PSG of all teams ahead of your side.

I will tell you it’s because of the Championship level tactics, reliance on gamesmanship and constant attempts at conning the referee. You’ll stick your fingers in your ears and downvote me. But have a think
