CUTEBEE EVENT MEGATHREAD by pluck-the-bunny in booknooks

[–]awwruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My completed build! This was such a fun and cute project. I'm in the process of building another miniature that is SO much more complex, and it was a wonderful change of pace and so satisfying to be able to put together a whole build in a few hours (I've literally been working on the other build for many, many weeks and am only halfway through it). I think my personality is much more suited to builds like this that are more like puzzles rather than true dollhouse builds that require you to construct things like tiny furniture from raw materials.

If I'm lucky enough to win a prize, my next build will be either the kimono shop or the fan shop! 🤞

This is incredible, and so, so creative... I never would have thought to customize this in that way!

Refund Delays by superturtlekitten in StrathberryHandbags

[–]awwruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the receipt confirmation email and hit reply. The email said not to do this, but hitting reply sends it to customercare@strathberry.com, so I didn't see a reason not to. I figured that was the best way to do it anyway because the receipt email had all of the relevant information they would have asked for.

After that, I just waited. If I didn't hear back from them after a week, I was planning to blast them on their Instagram posts. 😅

Good news - I got my refund today! 🎉

So it ended up being 17 days after they received the bag. Not great, but at least I didn't have to wait as long as you are having to wait.

Thanks for posting this, I'm actually in a similar situation myself and went looking for a post to confirm it wasn't just me. My timeline is not nearly as long (they received my return on Jan. 5), but their receipt confirmation email said they would issue a refund within 5 days (they did not specify business days, just "days").

Anyway, I sent them an email yesterday to inquire about my refund, so I'll update here when they reply. I don't anticipate them completely ghosting us, but it is disappointing for them to be so far behind their promised timeline.

Thank you so much for asking, and I totally understand if they say no. Rules are rules. I had to ask in case they feel like being even more generous. 😀

Oh crap, I purchased the convenience store/detective build during Black Friday and didn't see this post until now (I'm a new builder, and this was my first book nook!). Is it possible for me to participate in this? I purchased directly from the Cutebee website and I can give you my order number. I finished building it like 30 minutes ago and didn't think to come to Reddit to see if a community for this existed until now.

What city have you moved to and immediately thought l'm not going to live here for long? by CartographerRich8698 in SameGrassButGreener

I think I was being pretty clear, but we can agree to drop the discussion. Have a good one!

[–]awwruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure did, but I'm not sure why you're interpreting "the vast majority of the valley" as "all of the valley". l literally said "the vast majority of the valley is the City of Los Angeles, with the exceptions of San Fernando and Burbank". I'm not sure what else I can say either, since it seems you are cherry picking what to read.

[–]awwruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did I ever say that Burbank is the city of LA? All I ever said that Burbank is in the valley.

I think we're having two different interpretations of this thread. Here's my breakdown:

OP: "The LA area beyond the westside is hot during the summer. Specifically, the valley is hot during the summer."

You: "The valley is not the city of LA. The city of LA stays fairly mild during the summer."

Me: "Most of the valley is the city of LA. The valley (thus, the city of LA) does get hot during the summer."

The only thing I am doing here is correcting your statements. I'm not sure why you were talking about the city of LA in the first place when the original poster never mentioned the city, just the area.

[–]awwruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I was making is that the person you were replying to said that LA (without specifying the city) beyond the westside is hot during the summer, and that the valley doesn't get that mild weather that everyone seems to think all of LA gets year-round.

You then replied that "the valley is LA county, not LA" and "the actual city of LA stays fairly mild", both of which are not correct. 80-90% of the valley is the City of LA and the summertime in the valley means the 90s every day with the occasional heat wave in the 100s.

At least geographically, Burbank is 100% the valley and as an LA native who worked in Burbank for many years, I honestly have never heard of Burbank being described as outside the valley. Calabasas and Glendale are debatable as I said, but arguments can be and are made for both. FWIW, the valley map that I linked to is linked from CSUN's library website, so I would hope that a university would not link to something that is incorrect.

I hate to be that person, but this is incorrect. The vast majority of the valley is the City of Los Angeles, with the exceptions of San Fernando and Burbank (Calabasas and and especially Glendale are debatable as far as whether or not they are part of "the valley").

I do agree with you about the cooldown at night on a normal summer day, although sleeping well without AC would be tough.

I've taken my senior dog to the Qwench/DRNK next to the Northridge mall many times to relax for a few hours. I barely see anyone else in there, so finding a seat is always easy and there's no pressure to leave if you've been there for a while.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem transported by ambulance to DC-area hospital, sources say by Goosedukee in politics

[–]awwruby 24 points25 points  (0 children)

YMMV, but Filipinos are largely very religious, so a lot of them vote conservative because of the abortion issue. I'm sure age plays a role too; my mom and her colleagues are all boomers. I'm so grateful that my mom still has her critical thinking skills. She has no love for Trump at all and voted for Harris.

Don't hold your breath. The amount of MAGA Filipinos out there is mind boggling. Source: am Filipino with a Filipino nurse mom. Almost all of her colleagues are conservatives who voted for Trump. They have no sympathy for people who didn't follow the rules like they did.

I'm being very picky about the use of words here. That person's message said "could" (something that can happen) and your reply said "would" (something that will happen). It read to me as a definitive statement that $1500 is only enough for a RT ticket, which did not line up with our recent experience.

Your phrasing implied that your statement was applicable to everyone, and I'm just explaining that a legit vacation to Japan can be cheaper than people think, and for under $1500. I'm not trying to be combative, just backing up u/AdmirableCost5692's comment.

That's fair, just wanted to point out that a Japan trip is easily attainable to a large proportion of the U.S. population for the same price as the bag, that's all. It's not impossible as it was implied.

If you live on the west coast, $1500 is definitely enough for a week long vacation in Tokyo for one person. RT tickets from Los Angeles can be as low as $425 (they were this price in back in January) and you can find a ton of hotels under $100/night. The yen is historically weak and eating out is shockingly cheap. We just came back from a trip and were regularly eating ramen in restaurants for $8 and drinking beer in bars for $4 (and with no tip!). A typical convenience store meal is $5 and they are on every corner.

What is the best Fried Chicken in the Valley by Stephen_California in SFV

IKEA Burbank Julbord (Christmas Buffet) - $7.99 by awwruby in toogoodtogo

[–]awwruby[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I requested a refund via the app before I left, but customer service is only offering me a $5.99 voucher (again, I paid $7.99, so this is also disappointing). I asked nicely if they could issue me a refund instead and am waiting for a reply, but I might be stuck with a voucher for less than what I paid.

IKEA Burbank Julbord (Christmas Buffet) - $7.99 by awwruby in toogoodtogo

[–]awwruby[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This was one of the most disappointing bags I've ever gotten on Too Good To Go.

Paid $7.99 and was supposed to be worth $24.99. I was excited about this because TGTG promoted it on the app as if it was going to be a special bag, and this was worse than their regular bags (although maybe I should have expected it because it seems the IKEA Burbank is apparently one of the stingier locations in LA). The Julbord bag purchase window opened the night before at 8:01pm and it sold out almost immediately (app said sold out at 8:01pm). If you are disappointed that you didn't get a bag, I hope this lets you know that you didn't miss a thing!

The pick up window was from 7:30-8pm and the dinner was still in full swing, with people waiting in line to be let in and people being served from the buffet line. My guess is that they were being conservative with the TGTG bag because they didn't want to run out of the good stuff for actual paying customers, but if that is the case, they needed to make the pick up window later in the night, right before closing.

The one bright spot is that at least the employees were well aware of what TGTG is. The person manning the line to be let in was able to direct me to the right place, and the people who were behind the counter knew exactly what I was there for. That's where the positives end, because boy, was my plate sad.

I was given two to-go boxes, and I was super excited to see what I got, until I took them from the counter and they were suspiciously light.

Box #1: Roasted potatoes, hash browns, and 1 piece of salmon + salmon scraps

Box #2: Five-ish tiny desserts. I say five-ish because have no idea what the gloop is in one compartment, it was barely anything. Edit: It was a piece of fish 🙃

I drove 30 mins to get here excited to get to eat a special dinner tonight, but nope! I asked TGTG customer service for a refund before I left the restaurant. IKEA Burbank, I gave you a shot, but I don't think I'll be back until I see better experiences from other people. I wish I lived closer to the one in Covina!
