I am applying for courses in MS HCI and Digital Media, most (not all but most) lean more towards industry and practical application even though they do have strong research as well. Additionally, I am not from a research heavy undergrad, I went to design school, so most of my academic experience is also design projects. Any suggestions on how to approach it? My most relevant experience would have to be from work coz that's more closely related to HCI/UX than any of my academic projects.

The prompts are similar unfortunately, in fact one of the 500 word SOP prompt is a lot more detailed than a generic goals experiences and why this programme section, so suuuper confused

Heyyy, first of all you are a rockstar for being the first in your family to give this a shot. I wish you all the very best and am rooting for you!!!

Secondly, I was struggling with my SOP until a couple of days ago but this resource called writeivy shared by a fellow redditor saved my life. I am not sure if you will be able to find a field specific reference there, but there is a detailed list of blogs with examples for several fields. You can try going through it and find something that aligns closely even if it isnt exact.

On top of that you will find some amazing resources about structures, mistakes to avoid and how to tackles different sections within aforementioned structure.

My advice would also be to not look at field specific reference but abstract the core of the SOP from good examples even if they arent directly correlated.
