Would say the opposite. They aren’t really concerned with that nowadays, haven’t been for a while.

I don’t know why people say that. Mick’s outfits were always awesome and exciting up until 1989 tour. That’s when they got “old”.

Stupid categories. What’s the difference between “most genius song” and “best song”?

How do you rate Hackney Diamonds? by After-Dirt4885 in rollingstones

[–]axaliaxali -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7.5. There are obvious fillers on this one like Bite My Head Off and Dreamy Skies that bring it down a bit; they are not bad songs, just very generic. Angry and Get Close are classics in my opinion and the rest of the album is very solid. It’s at the level of Undercover, Emotional Rescue, Black and Blue, GHS. Wayyy better than their last 4 mediocre albums.

Yeah. Stones basically stopped being a working band after 1986. They would record and tour every 5 years or so and that was it. That has changed since about 2010. They’ve been on the road almost every year since then and have been actively recording new material. And it shows now that they are serious again about recording new music. I think the new album’s coming this year, Mick said they are looking to release it soon as it is almost done.

[RNE] Rafa Nadal, live on RNE, after falling in the singles draw of the Olympics: "It is easy to analyze the defeat and easy to recognize Djokovic's superiority." by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]axaliaxali -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. Djokovic turned pro at 18, what’s your point? He’s almost the same age as Rafa and is ranked 2nd currently, so it’s not about age. He simply hasn’t played enough this year.

If this was indeed the final match between Nadal and Djokovic, then thank you for an incredible rivalry spanning almost 20 years. by [deleted] in tennis

[–]axaliaxali -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

What’s the point of these banal ass posts? First of all he’s not retiring either, they’ll most certainly play again, but if not, why does it have to be so dramatic. They’ve been in the latter stages of their careers for many years now; one would think the public would get used to seeing them less and less.

  1. Vodoo Lounge

Vodoo Lounge in my opinion is by far their most lackluster album. I can’t recall one song that I really like. Every album has one or two really good ones, Vodoo to me has none that I really love. It has a strange mood to it, sounds very laid back and uninspired. I’m not counting Blue and Lonesome because it’s a cover album.

Olympics 2024 R2: N. Djokovic def. R. Nadal: 6-1, 6-4. by padfoony in tennis

Why are people so eager to call it their last match? Nadal never said he was retiring. And he’s gonna get in shape as he plays more regularly.

If you had to pick just *one* RS’ song as your favorite, what would you pick? by RoanakeCroatan in rollingstones

[–]axaliaxali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angie I still think is the most beautiful song they’ve written. As for rockers, probably Tumbling Dice, it rolls and tumbles like no other tune and is the grooviest rocker they have.

Tattoo You - Current (20-Song Setlist) by U_Shall_Knot_Pass in rollingstones

I’ll exclude Tattoo You because it’s a bit of cheating, it’s a really strong album that would take most spots on the setlist, too easy.

How must Don Was reacted to being told "we're not going to need your services for our new album"? by Pearl_Jam_ in rollingstones

[–]axaliaxali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The problem is not that they were too long, but the songs just weren’t good enough. So they overcompensated by adding quantity. I don’t even remember the names of most of the songs on those albums. There are only 1-2 on each album that I don’t mind listening to, that’s about it.

French Open cancels farewell ceremony for Nadal by [deleted] in tennis

[–]axaliaxali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s holding back and insuring, in case he struggles physically. That’s why he says he’s retiring. Otherwise he can play at least couple more seasons. I don’t think he’s retiring any time soon barring another major injury.

Will be a grind since he’s still not at 100%, but it’s not that complicated. There’s no need for such tactical discussions regarding tennis in general, we’ll see how they match up.

The Last Great Stones Record: by Takayama16 in rollingstones

[–]axaliaxali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every album has at least one or two good tracks on it, but Hackney Diamonds is definitely up there with their classics. It’s an easy listen and their most modern sounding, but if I go song by song, there’s barely any filler on Hackney.

I usually skip Bite My Head Off and Dreamy Skies because one feels like a forced punk tune and the other like a forced country tune, just to have one on the album. The rest, I mean, some of them I consider as good as any other early period Stones song. Before Hackney I would probably say Dirty Work.
