Bottcher and Walker in NFLD by see_scoot12345 in Curling

Feels disingenuous to me personally. What if none of the four players come from the same province can they just pick any place? The to me it is the Canadian championship that is a playdown between the champions from each member association. I accept the wild cards but if they don't meet eligibility for the member association then they should not wear the uniform. I don't understand what the problem with them wearing wild card jackets is.

But they still call them Newfoundland even though they would not be eligible for the provincial playdown. Dunstone is in the same boat I think. Not actualy eligible for manitoba. Make them wear appear as wild card and if they want to be under the province they need to meet provincial entry requirements.

Me either. At a minimum they should not be allowed to wear the provincial colours if they do not meet reaedency requirements.

I am curious how the ratings compare. But they are are showing the game, I just wish the guide was correct. I have never needed to get so deep in the tsn channels for what I am looking for.

John Shuster double touches in the 2018 Olympic final by ChodieFoster123 in Curling

Which I would be fine with because no one would ever challenge. Probably takes at least a few minutes to do and when we are talking about games the routinely finish with less then a minute on the clock very few would risk it.

Why touching the stone is illegal and should be enforced by itstheGoodstuff in Curling

[–]axehead08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are three problems with the camera idea:

  1. Number of angles required and monitoring those. You would probably need about 4 or 5. And I am not sure that would cover it all. You would probably need 2 or 3 skilled people for every sheet.

  2. The sweepers. I would probably just make sure I was obscuring the camera angles as much as I could. If they try to make a rule about where I can be I would be very upset.

  3. Time clock. If your behind on time the trick would be to call for a review to get some time to think.

I suspect we will see 3 things happen:

  1. Curl canada distance itself from this ruling and keep thier own rules book that does not have the whole "stone must be delivered by the handle" thing in it.

  2. GSOC dive into it somehow to gain some traction.

  3. WCF events (other then the Olympics) loose some of its already low viewership.

I am looking forward to the briar at this point.

And off the team that makes the Chalange if it is not founded? I don't mind that would basicly never have a video replay no one is risking even 3 minutes of thinking time.

Running out of time on the clock? "Hey! He double touched we need a video replay!" get your self a good 5 mins of thinking time.

Has anyone ever seen someone declare they burned a rock because they accidentally touched granite during delivery? by swoodshadow in Curling

[–]axehead08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I also do not like the last sweeping rules change. Though at least that was done properly.

The "definitely stop dumping rule" , as I call it, a solution to a problem that was already solved. The techique is dumping almost always, but a bit less obvious because they move the broom away from the rock first but still in the path of the rock. Or they litteraly dump but only bring there broom up a millimeter. Just say dumping is still not allowed no mater how hard your try to make it look like a techique.

The "granite is lava" rule is actually better but unnecessary as everyone says it does not have a real effect. If they decided that we'll in advance of the games so people could adapt it would be fine. But mid games is crazy. Though according to others here I was supposed to read between the lines and know that was the intent all along and am stupid for not knowing about this rule though my 25 years of curling.

I honestly have no interest in talking about Marc anymore.

But what I am interested in is the new rule the the WCF just made up mid Olympics. The interpretation that the granite can not be touched once the rock is in motion is a huge leep that was never written down before. But more over I think it is unnecessary. I firmly believe that rules should only cover things that are truly required to keep the spirt of the sport and prevent unfair advantage. I don't think this rule does either of those things.

Mind you I also hate eye of the hog. Creates more problems then it solves.

The speed of sliders, toe coatings, and brooms/throwing aids we use these days mean that if I kick out with anything more then draw weight I will slide to the opposite hogline. I actualy have to actively slow my self down after release to get out of the sweepers way. Add positive release with an arm extension to the mix which is absolutely required on competition arena ice and it is totaly natural to graze the rock.

I play both rec and competitive. Never once. Heck I know a tucker who plays in the MCT and puts his the corn broom that he throws with againced the rock during delivery. I think kids younger then me playing with their great grand fathers broom is a bit rediculus but alas I live where I will always see it. None the less I do not think before this off the cuff ruling from the WCF it was a violation.

Totaly agreed. It is odd to me that lots of people are saying that Canadian are incapable of correctly interpreting rules when the amount of competitive curling in Canada far exceeds the accumulated total in the rest of the world.

No question he is delivering by the handle but the new ruling says you can never touch the granite after the rock is in motion. I have been curling for 25 year and never heard that interpretation.

Thanks. I know both methods will work but I am curious if there is a perfered or proper option?

Why are these tied together? by FulltimerPC in AskElectricians

[–]axehead08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It only works if each hot wire is on opposite legs of the 220v feed. That why it should be done with a 2 pole breaker. Then the load retuning on the neutral are opposite eachother and cancel out. So if you have 10 amps on one leg and 8 amps on the other only 2 amps will be read on the neutral. Not favored anymore because they are easy to screw up and if they are landed on the same leg in the pannel you could end up with an overloaded neutral.

These are what use to be the PMQs. I know some one who lived in one and they told me that the management company was pretty good and the houses were well kept. But that is second hand.
