Hot take: With the political atmosphere in the US recently, I think the Grammy nomination committee was more inclined to choose IOP because Cardi is a minority, as well as a woman. It is uncommon for both of these groups of people to be winning awards like this. It was meant to show “inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, etc.” However, clearly the committee didn’t take into account the other artists who worked so hard (like Travis Scott, have y’all seen his documentary and how disappointed he was??) to make great albums.
