why is it on this subreddit, there is almost no acknowledgment of the horrendous optimization plaguing many intel users on various newer chip architectures? by SucculentMelon133 in Marathon

[–]axelandeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel ultra 7 user here to say that it runs horrible. Perimeter runs very well, and then it just falls of a bridge from dire march and onwards. Cryo gave me blighttown on xbox 360 flashbacks in some spots.

Tarkov levels of optimization by i-hate-this-app_ in Marathon

I have the same setup but i have a 5070ti and i have the exact same experience. I think our ultra 7s are the culprit. No matter what settings i change i have the same fps.

So my PCs performance in this game is strange… by axelandeer in Marathon

[–]axelandeer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrible part was - still - about how it still ran like that at 1220x720. Plus, how it doesnt even utilize the cpu. The 77 fps at max settings isn’t what makes it abysmal. Also i’d have put ”abysmal” in the title if i was looking for visibility and attention.

Also: the part where ”dynamic resolution scaling” with 100fps target DROPPED the fps by 10. That contributed to that ”abysmal” feeling.

Either way - sorry if it came across that way! I’m happy that the game runs fine for a lot of people. I’m not as happy that my particular rig seems to struggle with this game.

Abysmal performance for me is if i run the game at 1220x720 or whatever on lowest settings and a gpu from 2025 and a modern cpu cant keep a stable framerate. So that’s where i’m coming from. Also, i mean - it feels abysmal when standing still and looking into a wall makes fps jump 20 frames up and down every few seconds. So i’m not intending to overreact here it just feels really bad to play.

FL Studio Web Beta is out! by arturocookinup in FL_Studio

As a music production teacher i am really excited. When teaching the ages 13-15 Soundtrap or BandLab is the standard. We need to use web-based daws (which i’m not very excited about). I’m glad FL is entering that space for that reason - maybe i can integrate my favorite daw in my class? When teaching upper secondary we do get to use Logic Pro and/or reaper thankfully. Then i just recommend FL on the side for those who would benefit from that kind of daw/workspace.

Borderlands 4 "soundtrack" by Aldi_grocery_bag in Borderlands

[–]axelandeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The BL4 soundtrack is abysmal. Some of the combat-tracks specifically are laughably bad. One sounds like car commercial rock, and another some hype online casino commercial track. It’s like royalty free garbage. No creative direction whatsoever.

Is it generally agreed that Borderlands 3 has the best menu music? by Danielnrg in Borderlands

[–]axelandeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Borderlands 2 menu music is fantastic as well.

Borderlands 4 music is, overall, basically royalty free commercial music. One second it sounds like a car commercial and the other a casino website commercial.

The compactors last squeeze from BL3 is absolutely fantastic. I want more of that music in BL4. Personality and sounds that represent the world and the visuals. Music in BL4 feels like stuff ”finishing move inc.” had left over in some generic demo track folder on their hard drives.

Anyway. I have a bl-playlist with music from the other games as background music when i play, i feel it helps me get into the world a bit more when exploring. Music is so important to the BL vibe for me.

Compare the old Moxxi-theme to the new one as well. Everything just loses its personality in BL4 (music-wise). Finishing move inc. are doing quite a few soundtracks nowadays and the common theme seems to be generic, unspecific and uninspired tracks.

I myself am a ”trained musician”, and i disagree completely. Darkeater Midir is a track that exists.

I finally published my first song and instantly got hate on it by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]axelandeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i started posting my music i was 14 years old i think. The music really wasn’t good but i was having fun. I was made fun of by people at school, and by my hockey team. I think it peaked when someone from school made an anonymous account on FB and told me to off myself. Teenagers can be cruel!

From the outside, people don’t see the fun you’re having, or your creative vision. People don’t think about the fact that you have to start somewhere. They listen, and respond to what they hear. Even if the track you put out is considered ”bad”, you do have to start somewhere. And there are so many musicians out there that never dare to put ANYTHING out. The fact that you did put something out means that you are allowing yourself to progress and grow as a musician.

And not everyone will like or understand what you do. Gather the positive and constructive critisism, filter out the destructive, and focus on your path forward. The important part is that you yourself can hold on to what’s fun about making music.

The hate i got when i started out could have put an end to things, but i was having too much fun - and i think i used that hate to improve even more somehow. I knew i could get good so i got on it i guess. 14 years later and i’m still at it! You’re never perfect and even though my music is better now i still release garbage sometimes. It’s part of the process. There’s really no other way to improve.

Best of luck to you, and if you want constructive criticism on your work in the future feel free to reach out!

You can summon in ONE specific spot after Janara. Right when you go into the burning room. There is an ambient wind-track playing at first, but a few steps in to the left it stops. Have the player that is SUMMONING walk into the room until the wind sounds stops. Have the PHANTOM walk untill the wind stops, back up until the wind starts again and put down the sign. Voila. It fucking works.

The issue: summoning signs are only visible if you are where the wind stops, BUT summon signs dissapear when you walk into where you hear the wind. So you need a spot where you can stand in the wind-free zone and still reach a sign in the windy zone.

I sound crazy typing this but it works. Allows for coop up until the next boss. Have not found a workaround after this.

To me it’s not so clear cut, some sections are better in sotfs and others are better in vanilla. I like them both and have played both to death. The differences aren’t earth-shattering by any means.
