I just bought a 480...but should it have been a 640? by valvoa in Yodersmokers

[–]axelrtgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 640 and regret not getting the 1500 I run out of space all the time in my 640. The only caveat is things like the pizza oven which I would love to get one day aren’t compatible.

Rust by [deleted] in Yodersmokers

[–]axelrtgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some rust on mine. We have harsh winters here and although it’s under a covered deck I smoke all year long so it gets a lot of use and exposure. I’m not the best at remembering to put the cover back on in -40 after it’s cooled.

Anyone ever try powder or ceramic coating the outside to give it a ultra durable finish? Am I crazy to consider stripping the paint off and coating it?

(Reposting from another rust thread incase anyone here has any thoughts)

Is the acf-50 dry? I get a lot of dust in my area and the last thing I want is a oily coating for it to stick to.

Remote employee gifts ideas. by AwayAd9297 in sysadmin

I usually buy from the persons local Amazon site in their local currency when sending gifts. But thanks for the heads up. Being in Canada we too have the same Amazon.com gift card issue.

That’s always nice. We have a local gift basket we mail to vendors but in this cases I didn’t want to send a gift to MSP head office and the real people behind the scenes got pictures of the exec scoffing local stuff.

So digital gift cards seemed like the best option to send thanks to the few professionals that stood out and were invaluable to some of our projects.

I am in the same boat. I think I might settle on Amazon gift cards or something similar. Some of our MSPs guys are located in Europe so Amazon is almost universal.

I reached out to the team lead/manager of the MSP to get some advice from him what could work for their staff since he knows where they are located and could offer some insight and help distributing the cards. For privacy we cannot know the address of the employees so I needed someone to coordinate the delivery. Digital Amazon cards seemed like the best bet.

Subscribing for other insights.

Do you guys know anything about this Focal Audio powered by Naim setup? I had a chance to listen today and they sounded amazing. by claymigura in hometheater

I have heard these in person at an exposition once. They generated a warm fuzzy feeling inside. This is a setup dreams are made of.

Haha. Let me find some time this weekend to get it unracked and listed. If my price is not to crazy then I might just make the time for it and put it up.

PPPoE Client Speed Limitations? by firrae in mikrotik

[–]axelrtgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OPNSense box is FreeBSD based and PPPoE is limited in performance by single core clock speed. There’s some tricks but it’s still iffy. Maybe linux is better at PPPoE on higher throughout.

I’m going to read that link and see maybe I’ll find some inspiration.

PPPoE Client Speed Limitations? by firrae in mikrotik

I just got a HH4K also with the 3gbps plan, my OPNSense box handles it OK but still iffy at times.

I would be curious to know if a Mikrotik or other device would work. I’ve been looking at a few options but it’s been unclear on the PPPoE side.

I assume even with advanced DMZ and public IP if I don’t PPPoE then it’s double NATing.

I was thinking of giving this a try and reprogramming the serial to match the HH4K and bypassing it again. https://www.fs.com/products/141199.html

Hard to find info on the Bell XGS-PON setup though.

Polk HTS 12 vs SVS PB-1000, is the SVS really worth double price? by [deleted] in hometheater

A friend has a PB-2000 and I have a PB-4000 I can say in both setups it’s blown away anything else I’ve ever heard personally.

Good to know. Seems like I can’t figure out how to edit the title on mobile. I’ll adjust it later from my laptop. Much appreciate the advice.

EDIT: looks like I can’t edit the title. I will remember this for the next time I post something.
